Greater than one weekThis is an updated review. Im leaving the original review for transparency. Originally i had some issues with the bluetooth connectivity, but it seemed to only be on windows Customer Support has reached out to me and offered a few solutions and even offered to replace the keyboard. I updated the firmware/software from the website (and from the support email) and i think that fixed the issue If you see RK 5.0 and RK 3.0 when you try to connect to windows, use the 5.0 version. It seems more stable and has added a battery indicator. Im changing the review because the support team was super responsive and helped with the issue. Id deduct a 0.5 because the software update is not very clear. ===== original review ===== The bluetooth mode sometimes would disconnect. quite annoying when, in the middle of a game, you lose control for 10 seconds. sometimes it wouldnt even connect for a while. Theres no battery indicator so who knows how much charge i have left and when i should charge

> 3 dayThis is my favorite keyboard I’ve ever owned! It is so satisfying to type on (I got brown switches). I got the white one and it looks so sweet, it can be either classy and minimal or full rgb fun! It takes up such little space on my desk yet has all the functionality I need for school, music production, video editing, and gaming. 10/10 would not recommend

> 3 daythe thing kinda misfunctions sometimes, but overall works pretty well. Good quality for the price and its super pretty. The lights are bright and are adjustable, pretty sure theyre customizable too. I also like how easy it is to take apart to lube the switches or to change the keycaps. pretty good money for its quality and price

> 3 dayI’m a journalist and I wanted a good keyboard to make working from home more fun and I LOVE this thing. It’s so sturdy and satisfying to type on compared to some of the other more plasticky ones being sold on Amazon that honestly feel like Fischer price toys. This is a solid keyboard. And I love how it lights up!! Also having multiple ways to connect it to my laptop has been really convenient. I did a lot of keyboard research before buying this and it paid off because I love this thing.

Greater than one weekSo Ive been typing on this board for a few days now and first I would like to say the 2.4Ghz is completely useless. The bluetooth works but there are constant missed key presses and I dont use the keyboard with a wire because why would I... Id get a much cheaper board if I didnt need wireless. I usually type around 80 wpm and with this board the best Ive done is 50 because of the CONSTANT missed key strokes. They simply dont register. Especially the space. I am very disappointed. Even writing this review has been a hassle with the constant missed keys. (Im pressing the but the simply dont register) Ive had at least 10 missed key strokes during writing this review.

> 3 dayThe seller is great. Note that I got the version with blue switches, which came from the seller so took longer shipping (though still free and reasonable; just not Prime so not two-day). Versions with brown and red switches were Prime and shipped from Amazon. Im not upset, though, as I knew that going in; just something to watch for. I did have a quality control issue with the keyboard. I emailed the manufacturer, but no response after three weeks (not even a thanks for letting us know). It appears the opening for one of the switches (hyphen key) was too small. The symptom was the switch would not pop all the way back up, and did not click when pressed. When I removed the switch to replace it with one of the (4!) included spares, the removed switch worked properly and the spare, once installed, exhibited the same behavior. I was able to shave the opening with a razor blade and metal file and got the switch to work properly. So the keyboard works great now. Just a little disappointed in the quality control and lack of response from the manufacturer. Other than that, I am very happy with the keyboard. The 84 key layout is perfect for me, I like the removable frame to change up the style, I like the two USB-A pass-through ports, and I like the keycaps (even the font) and switches. I really like the blue switches, but love the idea I could change them out for reds or browns if I want to try them out. I always use the keyboard plugged in, but I like that I have the option of either a 2.4GHz dongle or Bluetooth (though I havent tried either, as I am told the pass-through doesnt work with those).

> 3 dayI got this keyboard last December but just around a week ago I found that a few of the keys werent working or lighting up. I sent a pretty detailed video to customer service showing the issue and they sent me a new one without me having to send the old one. So A+ there. About the keyboard itself, the switches and keycaps it comes with are not that amazing, but considering most people are just using this keyboard as a base and adding their own higher quality ones, it doesnt really matter as its still really good for the price. Also note that when I got the replacement, I noticed one nice difference between the new and old one. It seems the newer models have foam preinstalled both between the plate and PCB and also in the empty space in the case, which is incredibly useful as you wont have to DIY a solution yourself, saving lots of time.

> 3 dayI originally went shopping for a new board, because my large tenkey board sat too far to the left of center and made my right wrist hurt, so I wanted something a little more compact, and figured I may as well go wireless while Im at it. I initially had some issues with this RK84 freezing up every 10 minutes or so, and though it was the board. I contacted customer support, and they sent me a replacement, which seemed to suffer the same issue. After some troubleshooting, I narrowed the true issue down to my own motherboard -- updating my BIOS and removing my RAM overclocking/overvolting fixed the freezing issues for me. For the record, I have an Asus Z170. RK customer support was very responsive though. - Keycaps on this seem to be ABS and OEM profile. I swapped them for some blank cherry profile PBT caps, for aesthetic and durability reasons. - The 2.4GHz connection for me is stellar. Not only is it very responsive, but it also lets you use the board to wake your computer from sleep, which cant be done using bluetooth. - Having bluetooth capabilities to write long messages on my phone is a nice use case as well. - Its yet not clear to me what the full lifetime of the battery is, but Ive been heavily using the board without backlighting now for 1 full week, with no sign of dying. Update: the battery life on this thing is nuts. Ive been using it for a month now without charging it. - Its a relief to know that if I get tired of the blue switches in this board, I can just swap them out for whatever I feel like. My only real gripe with this board is that, as far as I can tell, theres no way to monitor the battery level, so Ill have to have it die on me to know when its time to plug it in for charging. Initially I was debating between this RK84 or a Keychron K2, which is very similar. Its true that the Keychron has a slightly larger battery, but it also places the delete key in a really poor spot, and the RK84 can act as a USB hub in addition, so overall I think this board is a better option.

> 3 dayThe first RK84 I received quickly developed some problems with repeating keys (getting multiple characters when certain keys were pressed). This occurred even when I tried replacing the switches in question. The seller sent me out a new one and Im pleased to report it works much better, so I may have just had a lemon the first time. In addition to working better, I noticed the new keyboard also had a couple improvements over the prior one: - a foam layer added between the plate and PCB to help reduce hollow noise - much better stabilizers. The first unit had somewhat translucent white stabilizers on the larger keys that were very loose, and would rattle and wobble. The replacement I got has different ones that are a solid white and *much* more stable, exactly what you want in a stabilizer. So I am a happy customer (for now) and am revising my rating upward accordingly. I will update this review if this unit develops any more unreliable key stuttering. If you have any problems like that, be sure to let your seller know and perhaps they can assist. Overall, bang for the buck, this is a solid keyboard and one of the cheapest wireless models on the market with swappable keyswitches. Mine came with the brown keyswitches that are kinda average, but thats a non-factor for me as I prefer Kailh switches and have replaced mine already. Its a great entry point into modding keyboards or you can run it just as it is.
