ROXIO EASY CD & DVD

> 3 dayRe: Roxio Easy DC & DVD software: I have read, enjoyed, or ignored customer reviews on Amazon for a long time. Ive written a few myself. I cannot recall ever reading more polarized reviews on anything at Amazon before. This is so much fun! Okay, the software. My only conclusion can be that a burned-out, over-worked software engineer created this software. It is the work of a mad genius. How else can I cope with it? What other explaination can there be? Make a spread sheet. Rate the reviews. Sum the numbers. Make a chart. Decide for yourself. PS. I no longer think that Bill Gates is the anti-Christ. My therapist told me that. He has stock in Microsoft. Ohmmmmmm! Oh! The software is pretty awful, but I think the engineer rates more than five stars.

Greater than one weekI was looking for software that would let me do two things: 1. easily burn cds with the ablility to control the transition between songs (crossfade songs, fade in/out, control the amount of dead space between songs) 2. cut out pieces of songs (stop a song halfway through, edit out an intro, etc.) This software easily did both. I am now using it as my primary tool for burning music cds. Now my cd compliations can have whatever transition between songs that I choose. I had a hard time choosing cd burning software for a few reasons. Most of the packaging doesnt clearly explain what the product can and can not do and most online reviews for software are horrible. After reading horrible reviews of other cd burning programs I assumed that installing this program would cause fatal errors on my 2 year old Toshiba laptop. It didnt. The photo editing software is mediocre, as far as I can tell, but thats not why I bought the program, anyway. I dont burn DVDs yet, so I cant comment on that feature. However, if you want to quickly and easily burn cds and have more control over your playlists, this is a good value.

> 3 dayI bought this software from one of the large warehouse stores in the area two years ago. Used it for mp3s,vcds,dvd slideshows. Worked fine. Just purchased a usb turntable to convert my vinyl to mp3 and cd, went to load easy cd & dvd and I get this message : trial version has expired. I was unaware that this was a trial version because nowhere on the box does it say trial version.I am very disappointed.

> 3 dayAlthough Amazon has this item listed as Vista compatible, please be aware that it is not a happy couple! If you have Vista/7, or plan upgrading soon (Support for XP ends spring of 2014) Then I would suggest spending just a little more and buying at least the 2011 version which works like butter.

> 3 dayIt does what I want it to do. It can copy CDs or DVDs. It doesnt take a long time (you dont have to listen or watch the CD or DVD at its entire length. As long as the song or movie isnt copy written, you can make a copy of it with a CD or DVD that you have yourself.

> 3 dayOMG, I am ignorant. I wish I would have read these reviews BEFORE I went ahead and spent thirtyplusdollars on this program. I bought it with the thought that I was going to be able to create DVDs to play in a regular DVD player. Believe it or not, I have friends who still watch videos on DVD! On the package, it says Videos made easy Create custom DVDs... etc. This led me to belive that I could create actual DVDs with menus, chapters, etc. WRONG!!! When I try to access this feature, the program tells me I need to upgrade!!! WTF???? I just bought this bloody thing and now they want me to spend eightymoredollars in order to do what the package SAYS it can do?????? Bollocks! I call shennanigans!!! Oh yes, I DID find one area where you can make a menu screen and TRY to import media. BUT that is so slow and tedious as to be nearly unusable. Then when the menu finally does load in...after several minutes watching a progress bar...you can do nothing with it. The music they put on it is WAYYY too loud and it can not be muted. You cant even change the music! ...there is no option! I finally did manage to get a few files moved into this decrepit interface and it started looking like I might be able to get something going after all. I started to feel hopeful. So I tried a burn, just to see what would happen. Guess what. It made a coaster!! Totally useless! Again, BOLLOCKS, I say! BTW, my system is an AMD Dual core with 4gigs of RAM and 1.25TB of HD storage. Running win7 64bit. Not a Screaming system by todays standards, but quite capable nonetheless. This software is just not what it claims to be. I am especially unhappy that I paid for a TRIAL VERSION!! I guess they must have seen me coming from a mile away. Yup, I got suckered by this package. Not again though. It has been removed and is on its way to the bin. If there is anything positive about this purchase, it is that I have learned a valuable lesson here: Read the reviews BEFORE buying software! So now my quest continues to find a program that I can use to actually create DVDs for general home use. Surely there must be SOMETHING out there??? ...somewhere??? One thing is certain though: I will surely never buy another Roxio product again. >>>UPDATE Nov 7, 2011<<< Subsequent to writing this review, I have discovered that my PC already has a DVD program built in. Windows Live DVD Maker comes with Windows 7. I have had a lot of success with the Windows software. No, this is not a review of Windows Live DVD Maker. I simply thought Id offer this up as a very viable alternative to this Roxio garbage.

> 3 dayIt is easy to install, but other than that, this software doesnt offer anything good. If you are lucky, you may be able to burn some CDs and DVDs (at least once in a while). I was able to burn a couple of DVDs (just data, nothing fancy), but have a lot of trouble using it for anything else, the user interface is one of the worst I have seen; overall the experience using this product is quite poor. Believe me, it is not worth the $30 dollars I paid for it. If you get it for less than $5 in a bargain bin or as a gift, give it a try, it and make it work for you; otherwise save your money and get something better.
