So easy to use. Got fed up with old hard to use hand crank style. Feeds out and retracts automatically. Very strong motor but not unmanageable. Cordless even better. Unclogged drain in about 10 minutes. I am disabled due to several back and knee surgery. Could not be happier with purchase. Worth every penny. Cant say enough good things about this tool.

After about a half hour of fighting this down my toilet, I felt a snap in the line. I had to remove the Toilet, with the snake attached to everything and pull the broken tip out of the drain. I still have a clog and a broken snake. This does not make me a happy boy.

Instructions could be more effective, especially suggested methods of use. You have to learn how to use the booger but it is effective if you get unobstructed access to your drain and use it correctly. Getting the cable twisted is a pain and instructions should be clearer on how to avoid that. In fact, instructions are worthless. Twist the cable under load and you put a permanent kink in it. You have to use it until you teach yourself how. Persistence. Some clogs have to be chewed at til youre blue in the face and nothing clues you to expect that.

Powerful motor. But the 1/4 in cable is too thin and easily kinks. This is my second unit and the cable jammed after about 10 feet. The plastic parts are not well made and break but the motor is great. Use a water hose and blatter first where you can. I need this one for the shower.

Its a nice auger setup. Yet it is not the easiest auger to work. You think its spooling out but it gets stuck and you think Youve hit something and its nothing. Difficult to get it to go around bends as it takes minutes at times in which for comparison I got out the old snake to see if it was just my technique or the units. The old snake got around easy peesy and I finished that drain with the old snake. After a few times using the unit {I manage multi rooming houses and my handy man got the virus so I got plenty of practice} I got used to it but still on some drains found myself just spinning the coil. I also paid $90 for an item thirty percent more expensive than the standard cost. I recommend u dont do that and google Ryobi and find for yourself the reality of the prices. I like Ryobi a lot and have many tools and batterys from them. Thats why I bought this one

Within 5 minutes of getting this I popped open my tub drain with a PINA clog that never goes away. This thing lurched forward a bit. I felt the GRAB. I was like oboy what did I just break? I pulled the cable back and WOW, a DEAD MOUSE came out. Well, not really. But the Nastiest hairball you could imagine came out with a 18 long tail. I am a professional know it all fix it all from cars, homes and as well a Licensed Inspector. Buy one even if just to add to that tool box. This Paid for its self. If I find another used one I am going to get it. Because you know how when a tool is well made and that company figures it out that stop making them. Or make them but cheaper so you have to buy them again or the parts. Well here ya go!

It seems when tools like this are made in foreign countries they give you a manual that is made as inexpensive as possible. Lots of warnings so the legal staff they have can get the company off the hook. In fairness to the manufacturer the Darwin Awards would probably cover some person who would misuse it in some insane way. My complaint centers on a lack of communication which would easily be covered by including a DVD on how to use it. And so my fellow DYIs that answer is YouTube once again. The videos posted on the site were very helpful. As for the performance of the tool It quickly unblocked a drain line that the dishwasher is connected to. Worth the price but now I have to remember to charge the battery every now and then. For a battery operated tool this is one I would recommend since it has the power to drive the auger.

This was exactly what I needed. I had a stubborn clog in my washer drain line, and I could not clear it with my manual auger. Tried a few different times. Also, Drano wouldnt work because the clog was too far beyond the trap for even a full gallon to do the job. Checked around because I didnt want to buy more auger than I really needed since Im not planning to clear a main line or anything. Bought this and cleared the line within 10 minutes. Wasnt hard to figure out how to work it either. Doesnt come with a battery, but I have other Ryobi cordless tools and was able to use one of them with this. MUCH cheaper than calling out a company to do it.

I used a bit of plastic wrap and stuffed it down the bathtub drain so that i could take a bath and it got sucked into the ptrap. This tub and ptrap are over sixty years old and had not been snaked since the eighties. The tub water wouldnt not drain so i decided to purchase this on amazon rather than 1. call a plumber or 2. purchase the much more expensive drill auger they sell at the big box store for over two hundred Plus dollars. item came in less than a week. Luckily my wife had gifted me a ryobi combo kit for christmas so i already had the batteries. The day the item arrived I put it to use and within a few minutes I pulled out the plastic as well several decades worth of hair. This item paid for itself on its first use and I expect to keep using it for the next few decades. Stop depending on plumbers and become independent and DIY. It will definitely save you hundreds in the short term if you have rentals like I do. I highly recommend its ease of use and power. My best tool at the moment and I praise Ryobi for its ingenuity.

I bought this about a year ago after a clog I couldnt clear with either Drano or a hand crank snake. Id had a sink clog a couple months earlier I similarly couldnt clear and had a plumber come out. $120 to clear. It would have been another $150 to put in new sink drain pipes but I just did that myself. So, I saw this and I already used Ryobi drill, saw etc., so had the battery pack. Ive had 3 clogs(old house...) since, 2 behind the wall, so this was great and cleared them. Takes some doing especially since first time snake curved up into vent instead of down to main house drain. So if it seems its behind the wall, you need to take off to the straight pipe into the wall and make sure it goes down... . Also, 2nd clog on bathroom sink had 40 year old brass U trap. The Ryobi is pretty intense and cracked it. Ooops. So be careful... . Anyway, I highly recommend it. Not super easy to use but straightforward to figure out.
