This is a pretty decent execution of a great idea at an extremely reasonable price. Converting this from the duffel bag to a garment bag or back is as easy as using two zippers. No complicated origami here. There are pockets everywhere, and all of the pockets remain viable regardless of which way you choose to carry the bag, with two possible exceptions Ill get to in a second. YKK zippers are the best, and honestly thats a surprising quality choice at this price point. The oxford cloth material for the outside offers some weather resistance and reasonable durability without being overly bulky or heavy. For a duffel, it has a really large capacity. Perfect for a weekender bag or a large gym bag. The shoe compartment does go inside of the main compartment, so it will reduce some of the capacity in that sense, but it is worth it to keep your shoes (or dirty clothes) separate from everything else. The garment bag is a great size for suits, and having so many external pockets helps make sure you can bring your ties, pocket squares, tie clips, cuff links, etc. However, the two bottom folds (which end up being the sides of the duffel) hang awkwardly off to the side at the bottom. Definitely not ideal if you want to fill them with things, especially if you are actually putting a pair of shoes in the shoe compartment. Not as big a deal if you leave them empty and fold them in. I think if they were fully removable , or if they somehow were zipped into or otherwise secured down into the main body of the garment bag, it would be better overall, even if that means you lose the ability to use the compartments for storage. You could still put a pair of shoes in the bottom of the main compartment of the garment bag at the bottom, preferably in a bag to keep them from coming into contact with your suit/shirts. Personally, I bring my shoes in separate bags anyways, so not being able to use the shoe storage while having it in garment bag mode isnt a deal-breaker. If this bag was more expensive, that design issue would definitely cause me to knock a star off, at least. However, for less than $40 and considering the quality of the materials and the versatility of the bag, this is an easy 5-star rating. I would give this 5 stars as a duffel alone, so any extra functionality is just a bonus and this is definitely a working garment bag if you want it to be.
