> 3 dayI bought the Samsung 980 for a refurbed office PC that I use (shockingly) as an office PC. Price was the primary factor here. The 970 Pro and 980 Pro are both somewhat faster, but they are also more than twice as expensive for the capacity. Most mid-tier and up SSDs have a DRAM cache that improvs performance, particularly when you have a lot of smaller requests of smaller files going on at or near the same time. The 980 doesnt have that cache, instead it requisitions a chunck of your system RAM for use as a cache. On PCs with 8GB of RAM or more you probably wont notice it, but if you only have 4GB of RAM you might notice some slowdown. The PC Im using this SSD in has 16GB of RAM, so its not really a factor.

> 3 dayI had this for about 8 months, give or take. The performance within those months was amazing! BUT, it suddenly stopped working and after diagnosing the problem, I found that the SSD failed completely. There was no stress on the computer and no valid reason why it failed at all. Unusable, I contacted Samsung for a replacement since it was still under warranty but they said explicitly that it is the responsibility of the retailer to replace the item. Amazon has a 30 day return policy and absolutely couldnt replace the SSD. I had to settle for a refund and now I have to purchase a brand new SSD for twice the price. Im incredibly upset and dissapointed

> 3 dayAs you can see by the product image this screen was shown after properly inserting my drive. And had potentially damaged other components on my motherboard. Ive switched ports for my graphics card and only works when I have this nvme drive outside the system. Either this one is bugged or doesnt work in my system.

> 3 daymy one-year-old ThinkPad P1 was running out of space, and I was looking for an EVO 970 SSD, coz my Gen2 P1 doesnt support PCIe 4. I accidentally found this PCIe 3 version of 980 (I thought all 980s are PCIe 4). It took less than a day to be delivered (and installed) since I placed the order - thanks Amazon for the super fast shipping and delivery. I put it in, it was pretty straightforward, and I immediately moved all my data from the old drive to it - in less than 5 minutes for an overall 375 Gb of data. That was amazing! Theres a noticeable performance improvement that I can absolutely tell when I moved and ran my VMs on it.
