I use one of these to transfer files between 2 laptops. A second one has portable apps on it so I can use it with several desktop and laptop PCs. The third one has Ubuntu Linux on it that I used to install on a couple of laptop and desktop PCs. All have worked well. I recommend these.

This USB was reasonably priced and the upload and download times were fast.

Pros: - Value for Money: With three 32GB USBs for roughly $15, the price-performance ratio is quite compelling. - Read and Write Speed: The flash drives deliver 160MB/s read and 40MB/s write speeds, which are satisfactory for most daily tasks. Cons: - Variable Quality: While I personally did not encounter any issues, there are user reports of defective units in some batches. Conclusion: - The SanDisk 32GB 3-Pack Ultra USB 3.0 Flash Drives offer good value and reasonable performance, making them a cost-effective solution for those in need of reliable storage. However, if speed is of the essence for you, investing in a M.2 Gen4 enclosure could deliver significantly higher read-write speeds, upwards of 800MB/s. This pack is a good choice for everyday use, but speed enthusiasts might want to consider the latter option.

I prefer covers vs in & out buttons. But I tried one of the drives by transferring 3 movies to it and then playing them on my big screen TV and it worked perfectly.

I used it once to install windows 11 on a new PC. It worked and is fast. Pny is a reliable company. This drive will sit around until I need to reinstall Windows. Not much to say here. The metal USB bit retracts for protection, I guess thats what its for. The end.

Nothing new here, just the results of my initial tests. TL;DR: Seems genuine, no bad sectors. Only 460GB, not for people in a hurry. Verify a SuperSpeed connection. lsusb -v shows: ------------------------------------------- idVendor 0x0781 SanDisk Corp. idProduct 0x5581 Ultra iProduct 2 SanDisk 3.2Gen1 ------------------------------------------- One USB 3 hub detected this as HighSpeed and another SuperSpeed. Not sure why, but USB 3 hubs always surprise me. The disk came FAT 32 formatted, with 3 useless files (I don;t do Windows or Mac): -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 707152 Sep 23 2021 Install SanDisk Software.exe -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 552605 Sep 23 2021 Install SanDisk Software.dmg -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 300509 Sep 23 2021 SanDisk Software.pdf I use the Fight Flash Fraud (F3) software to verify my flash devices. This one checked out well: ------------- ~ # f3probe /dev/sdc F3 probe 8.0 Copyright (C) 2010 Digirati Internet LTDA. This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. [...] Good news: The device `/dev/sdc is the real thing Device geometry: *Usable* size: 460.27 GB (965246976 blocks) Announced size: 460.27 GB (965246976 blocks) Module: 512.00 GB (2^39 Bytes) Approximate cache size: 0.00 Byte (0 blocks), need-reset=no Physical block size: 512.00 Byte (2^9 Bytes) Probe time: 257 ------------------------------------- As others noted, this only has 460GB usable. Deceptive marketing. I had not noticed the device was running as HighSpeed, but as others have noted, when writing USB 2 and 3 are about the same. If took just over 9 hours to fill the thing! ---------------------------------------- ~ # f3write /mnt/usb [ ...] Average writing speed: 14.08 MB/s --------------------------------------- Reading it all back showed zero errors, but took almost 3 hours and 30 mins! --------------------------------------- Average reading speed: 36.37 MB/s --------------------------------------- So writing as SuperSpeed would not have gone faster. Moving it to a hub that detected this as SuperSpeed read it back in just under 53 min: --------------------------------------- Average reading speed: 149.60 MB/s --------------------------------------- The cheap thumbdrives keep calling me, and turn out to be junk. This is the real deal.
