Schluter Kerdi 4 Inch Square Stainless Steel Grate - Floral Design in Matte Black

Who knew one could get excited about a shower grate? We are having our bathroom remodeled and the shower floor will be a dark slate. So instead of the silver colored grate offered locally, I found this product online and it is really pretty! It is also heavy - so doesnt need screws to attach it and will lift out easily in case of a clog. It is pricey; that is the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars.

Easy to install with the schluter drains and looks great. The extension portion and mortar ring are plastic, but the main casing and grate are made of heavy duty metal and should last a very long time. Also love that this is sized perfectly for 2x2 tiles which is a common shower floor tile size, just had to cut out the middle 4 tiles off tile mat and it worked out great. Also easy to remove the grate for cleaning as it just sits in the base.

These are brand specific so you must use the Schluter brand drain flange under it.

Read all the product info and maybe even Schluters site before buying. This isnt compatible with standard shower tile installation. I was not aware, purchased,. My GCs plumber was not aware, installed. Tile installer said it wouldnt work. Now I have a beautiful l, unusable and unreturnable shower drain. Definitely a shame. Do your homework better than I did!

As drains go, the cover is very nice, though mine came with a chip in the finish. Due to changes made in the floor tile selection we changed the style and design and did not install this drain. The item could not be returned as it was from a third party through Amazon. Price wise, this drain and the mounting flange was at time of purchase over $100 in cost. With the purchase you receive the cover, the seating surface which is adjustable in height for initial installation in the floor (leveling) and the mounting flange, which is mortared into the Schluter floor system. Unlike standard drain installation, the Schluter system requires lots of patience for proper installation. Something I did not know when I chose the system for this bathroom remodel. More than likely I will never use this system again for future remodels. I am not a professional bathroom installer and DIYer. This could have been a better value if the system came with a hair trap.

Great looking drain. Would recommend to anyone using the Kerdi system.

Nothing unusual with this product. I am looking for a grate that fits the drain, had to buy this for the kit ordered. Do you have a hair trap for this drain? Would help if it came with a hair trap. Very expensive for a simple drain grate.
