Stability helped me start and establish a brand new 55G tall from scratch with only one fish departing to the Golden Pond in the Sky (loach swam up the intake into the filter impeller...messy). From day one I did daily testing with the API kit and made an Excel spreadsheet of the data. There were very small, irregular ammonia spikes at the 2nd/3rd week, but not into the danger zone and slowly decreased to 0ppm by the end of the 4th week. Nitrites and nitrates increased from the 3rd week and then hovered at a very acceptable range below danger zone and then gradually decreased to ~0 ppm for nitrites and ~20ppm for nitrates by the 5th/6th week. The results I got from the test kit were evaluated against a U of Floridas chart (I am a bio major) of Total Ammonia Nitrogen Toxicity (using pH and water temperature as the other parameters), and were in the range that is deemed not dangerous to FW fish for a short term period. With the results of these API test and my personal experience, I would definitely recommend and have been using Seachem Stability as a jump start product to establish the important biological filter in a FW aquarium or to boost or supplement the already existing bio filter in an established tank. For those interested about my experience, see below for in depth details. Products used: -Seachem Stability -Seachem Prime -API FW Master Test Kit 1st week: IMPORTANT: FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS FOR THE FIRST WEEKS DOSING SCHEDULE BASED ON YOUR TANKS VOLUME. Added 7 Zebra danios. These are hardy fish and can survive a newbies foray into fishkeeping and hopefully any mistakes I make. First day: One capful( 5mL) for every 10G of NEW WATER, so 5 capfuls. Days 2-7: One capful for every 20G of water, so ~3 capfuls EVERYDAY. Added 4 black Java loaches/khuli loaches on day 3. Note: Directions says you can add fish/inverts immediately and at any time as long as you follow the all-important dosing schedule above for the FIRST week only. NOTE: After first week, one capful for every 20G once a month, or with each water change, or introducing new fish, or medicating. 2nd week: Added Dwarf gourami and 3 Albino cories. Did 25% water change with Prime, then dosed with 3 capful of Stability, which is the dose for ~60G. 3rd week: Added Bristlenose pleco. Did 25% WC with Prime, then dosed with 3 capful of Stability. 4th week: Added 3 more Albino cories. Added 1teaspoon/10G API Aquarium salt to counter increasing ammonia, nitrites and nitrate spikes. 5th week: Added 5 more loaches. Did 25% WC with Prime, then dosed with 3 capful of Stability. 6th week: Added 2 Amano shrimps. Did 25% WC with Prime, then dosed with 3 capful of Stability. 4 months later: 3 Bamboo shrimps, 2 Amano shrimps, 9 Loaches, 6 Cories, Dwarf gourami, 7 Danios, BN pleco, plants. All fish/inverts growing and healthy. I now only dose 1 capful of Stability with each 25% WC, as my biofilter is now well established and API tests show it doesnt need 3 capfuls for every WC. Thanks Stability!

I have used Seachem Stability to successfully cycle 2 aquariums now, as well as to restore filter health after medicating or after very large water changes. This product has always worked well to establish or keep my bacterial filter strong and I will continue to keep a bottle on hand for situations in the future. I use it in conjunction with Seachems Prime to turn ammonia into a form Stabilitys bacteria can use. I really like how you cannot overdose it, so when in doubt you can just throw a capful in there then test a few hours later. I love all of Seachems products and use their products exclusively in both of my tanks with plants, invertebrates, and all sorts of freshwater fish with no ill effects.

Stability is a great product to help quickly start your cycle. Cycle of a tank goes down to a week unstead if 6-8 weeks. Go slow adding fish still as the cycle is still new. Great product

I ordered seachem prime and seachem stability at the same time to do a fishless cycle. It is now going on 3 months and after dosing with the stability everyday, dosing liquid ammonia when needed up to 3-4ppm( janitorial strength from ACE with no scents or additives), prime when adding new water, a heater bumped up to 84 degrees, having live plants and a few old filters and same baggies of gravel from an established tank I still have NO progress and my Ammonia will not budge. It is completely bewildering. I have a 29g tank and have followed the instructions- I have nearly finished the whole giant bottle of Stability I received with no progress in my cycle at all. I have reached out to customer service with SeaChem and they have not been helpful- they just told me it was because I have 2 sponge filters instead of a hang on the back filter which is total crap- you should be able to cycle a tank with any kind of filter so long as it is the right size for the tank.. ( although they are very nice). I do not recommend this product at all. Maybe I got a bad batch but I am pretty disappointed and really feel like I have wasted my time and money.

This stuff really does work. I had been cycling my 10 gal tank for about 3 weeks when I started it. My tests were just barely showing some nitrite. 8 days later, it was fully cycled. Please note, though, that this won’t work at all if you don’t combine it with an ammonia source. I used Dr. Tim’s pure ammonia to raise my tank to 4-5 ppm for cycling. If you have fish in your tank, that’ll also do it, but fish in cycling is not recommended. I think that some of the negative reviews are from people who thought that this product alone would cycle the tank. It won’t. This adds beneficial bacteria to your tank, but the bacteria will starve without ammonia as a food source. So make sure you have good ammonia levels in the tank before you add this.

This product is great, I have used it often and the price was inline and a little lower price than the pet stores

I have used all the other products on the market to cycle aquariums and I was just about to give up when someone told me to try this product! Follow the instructions to the T and you will see you should see amonia, nitrates and nitrites change for the better in about 4 days. I would do 50% water changes on my 90 gallon daily to keep the ammonia below 1PPM and treat the water. I switched from a 55 to 90 and lost ALL my beneficial bacteria and have about 25 community fish in the aquarium. This saved my tank and i have not lost one fish yet. In stores this size bottle is REALLY expensive. I have never seen even the smaller bottles go for anything over 14 bucks! Good buy, good savings, great product, if I could give it 6 stars I would! MAKE SURE IF YOU USE TAP WATER AT WATER CHANGES, THAT YOU TREAT YOUR WATER AND WAIT 15 MINUTES BEFORE ADDING THIS PRODUCT OR TURNING OUR FILTER BACK ON! Cheers!

I use this when I do my half water Change. Keeps my fish healthy along side with the chlorine removal

My tank would not cycle until I quit using Prime, which makes sense if you think about it. If it ties up the nitrites and nitrates then what are the newly forming bacteria going to consume? It took eight weeks and multiple manufactures of this type of product including this one here to cycle my 75. At the time my tank cycled I was using Foster and Smith bacteria, but Im sure this is a good product and would have worked if I had not used Prime. Maybe my tank was about to cycle when I quit using Prime, I will never know... P.S. I use Prime and Safe on all my cycled tanks

I have been hooked on Seachem Stability for a long time but put it to the test when we moved from Utah to Mississippi. I wanted to setup my 9 aquariums as soon as possible so as soon as this was done I started to Use Stability plus a dose of Seachem Prime every 48 hours. I immediately started stocking the tanks with fish, everything from Flowerhorns to a large variety of Cichlids, Plekos,Severums, Parrot Flowerhorns and Blue Dolphins. I have not had even one loss during the cycling, I believe its critical to use Prime in conjunction with Stability, and I have a Pearl Flowerhorn coming in soon that I will cycle exactly the same in a 55 gallon bowfront that I just set up today. Kudos to Seachem for another great well researched product.
