The HDD works great. What some people may not know is that you will have to go into windows and create drive partitions. The HDD also may be a little slow when downloading Large files. Other then that I have had no problems with it and I highly recommend it!

It works as spec-ed and I am just using it for back up. But I had forgotten just how painful working on a 5400 rpm drive could be. Next time I will spring for 7200 rpm.

The good news is that there is nothing wrong with either your hard drive or your computer. This apparently reduced size is both normal and will apply regardless of which brand of hard drive you buy, which computer you install it in and which operating system you use. The reason is fairly straight forward (if rather odd). When advertising their hard drives, manufacturers use a different method of defining how much storage space is on the drive to the actual method used by your computer when it uses that space. Computers use binary approximations of the decimal values, and so when your computer stores a 1KB document it occupies 1024 bytes of space on the drive. 1GB = 10243 = 1,073,741,824 bytes 1TB = 10244 = 1,099,511,628,000 bytes The computer sees the drive as being smaller than the label on the hard drive claims it to be. To take a 1TB drive for example: the manufacturer has built a hard drive which physically contains: 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, But since the computer sees 1MB as 1024 not 1000 bytes then the actual storage space will be smaller (around 931GB but it can depend upon what you use to evaluate the size).

This drive is more like a Carp than a Barracuda. Best suited for storage not an OS in a laptop. After a year in service I thought it was time to swap out my 2tb WD blue. The seagate clone keeps me waiting much longer than expected. No xfer data software stats to show but I know this drive is slow. Going to put my WD back and consider the Seagate to be a backup. Buying another WD now just like the good old one. I cant afford a 2tb ssd at this time.

This drive is just what I wanted. Its quiet, pretty fast, and holds its contents without spilling. Have not run into a single problem.

Ive been using Seagate Barracuda drives for my computer repair customers for a long time now. I have replaced many a failed WD blue blue with these, some of them have now been in service for the better part of five years with no problems. I happen to own eight of them myself. Excellent little drives for the money. Theyre also very lightweight and excellent for applications where you need keep the weight down such as mobile computing. My only complaint is the inconsistency in capacity. A 1tb drive will usually have between 900 GB and 923 GB of usable space. I can Overlook the inconsistent and nearly 10% capacity loss when considering that these are very affordable yet high performance.

My PC was horribly slow for months. No viruss found. I kept thinking it was constant MS updates or One Drive Synch (cursing Bill every day). Then I noticed my disk drive was often at 100% when viewed in Task Manager while memory and processor remained much lower. There were no other error codes or warnings of a bad drive. I finally opened my wallet, blew off the dust and bought a new drive. Lucky my old drive worked well enough to allow me to create a USB recovery disk. Well, the new drive did the trick. My PC once again acts like new. I wish I had done it sooner. Upgraded to Win 11 in the process, glad I did that too.
