would recommend to do if you have an old ps3 and want more storage space. does plenty to saturate the older sata2 connection the ps3 uses, and if you are concerned to speeds for this case, and wanna go use sata, i mean go ahead i guess and waste money? it wont be faster than just using this. install is based on use by use basis, for the ps3 its mostly as easy as it gets, one screw and a cover in most cases. for a laptop, you might a similar install. but in some cases, like an old macbook, you need to take off the whole rear shell to get to it, but its a bog standard, reliable, HDD compatible with the smaller 2.5 inch sata size standard. would recommend if you need it for anything that fits this scenario. tho for HDDs, outside of sata2 into the realm of sata 3, id recommend something like a sata ssd for 1tb, costs more, but a good one from a good company will give you better speeds and more responsiveness. personally i use a bunch of 4tb hdds with a mix of 1tbs sata ssd and m.2 ssds within my computer, but all in all, depends on a case by case basis.

My envy 23 all in one died. Thankfully I had already moved everything important to online storage! My 16 yo son installed this easily (this was a test to see if he could do it since he wants to build a computer now). It definitely isnt fast enough for gaming but I know that has more to do with the processor. it definitely fits the bill for my needs for using my cricut and other things like spreadsheets and word docs. We were worried about loading Windows but since we had previously logged into Microsoft it knew our registration number. we were able to use a jump drive with windows downloaded to it from our laptop. it was very easy thankfully!

I had just bought a 2T FireCuda a few months ago. The hybrid HHD/SSD version. I was extremely happy with it too. But a short power outage at home one day threw a breaker and my laptop went down. After trying to reboot, it tried to do a scandisc on its own and stuck. Tried to get it going several other ways, to no avail. Couldnt even recover anything from it either. Fortunately, I had made a backup recently so I ordered this little monster and (knock on wood) we are back business. I recommend this and even the FireCuda version. But I also recommend getting a UPC battery backup no matter what you use!

Works great for expanding PS4 storage.

This product was really great than what I expected. I was getting worried that I was running out of space in my gaming laptop, but I saw a video where u can add this to your laptop. Great product for GB capacity. But the price is little to much, I get it that its smaller for a 3.5 inch. But for a 2.5 inch is more expensive because it small. But overall great to buy!

At first I thought my PS4 was a goner. My lovely dog just kept on walking as he caught the cord and toppled my ps4 to the ground. Didn’t fix it for months thinking it would take a $200 fix. Nope. All I needed was a new HDD, so I upgraded from 1TB to 2TB, downloaded the reinstall file from sony website onto the ps4 and voila!. I do recommend saving your games to an external for instances like this. As easy as it is to replace the HDD, it’s harder losing all progress to certain games.

This drive is more like a Carp than a Barracuda. Best suited for storage not an OS in a laptop. After a year in service I thought it was time to swap out my 2tb WD blue. The seagate clone keeps me waiting much longer than expected. No xfer data software stats to show but I know this drive is slow. Going to put my WD back and consider the Seagate to be a backup. Buying another WD now just like the good old one. I cant afford a 2tb ssd at this time.

Ah yes more storage devices for more games. This is what I use it for, and yes these are the best brand you can buy unless you want something a bit faster then those would be SSDs and they are rather costly so be prepared for that.
