> 3 dayThis is a useful mix of salt, green tea granules, dashi fish broth, nori flakes and tiny wheat crackers shaped like batons. Ive been using this brand for fifty years. There are various flavors: sake (dried salmon flakes), umeboshi (dried pickled plum) and I think there is a tarako (fish roe) flavor but I like this sort, the plain nori flavor. I usually find one packet (shaken up well) works for seasoning two bowls of rice, but one packet can also be used for a big bowl of soup; you take a couple of spoonfuls of the rice left in your bowl and pour on the mix, and add green tea or boiling water to taste-- voila! Ochazuke (tea rice soup.) This is often a hangover cure soup sipped at the end of an evening, finishing a meal, or even for a breakfast. I generally just eat this dry as furikake (rice garnish.) It makes a fast lunch with a hardboiled egg or some tuna fish and a cucumber sliced up.

04-06-2025If you are Japanese, absolutely no explanation is needed. It is a long-term, classic, staple item in Japanese pantry, exactly as it says in the package. If you are not quite familiar with this product, this is seasoning for soupy rice. Each package consists of finely shredded seaweed (nori), rice crispy, and seasoning. The classic way to eat this is to put it over steamed sushi-grade rice and add hot water or hot Japanese tea, green or brown, whatever way you like. Some creative recipes are available on internet, such as using this for pasta and rice balls. I never thought it had green tea flavor though. And it does contain MSG.

Greater than one weekThis is instant green tea broth for rice soup. You can use it in other soups, too, but is most commonly used for rice soup. It comes with small rice crackers, and strips of nori. The taste is savory and umami, and is light enough that you dont feel heavy after eating it, but is filling too.

> 3 dayBe careful! This was definitely my fault, I don’t usually cook with this type of oil. I got side tracked on the phone for about 5 minutes . I was heating the oil and my smoke detectors went off. I look at the stove and the pan was on fire. My goodness, I’m a pretty experienced cook but I’m terrified now. This oil heats quickly!
