This is the first external hard drive Ive bought - I need it for a photography class - and so far I can say Im happy with my purchase! Its really nice and small, appears to be as shockproof as it claims, and I particularly like the wraparound usb cord storage. Very excited to start putting my photos on this! Extra bonus is that it can be formatted for both Mac and Windows. Ill need to use it with Macs during this photography class, but then Ill have the option of reformatting it after Im done to use it in the future with my PC.

Took it out of the box, plugged it in, and it just works! Soooo much storage space, I was able to transfer a HUGE amount of pictures, videos, and other files from my smartphone, and now my phone works like the day I bought it. NOTE... I downloaded the files to my computer first, then saved them to this unit. I also used it as a dedicated storage space while I was editing large video files, and it was fast, smooth, no issues!

So far I like it. Im not going to give it a five star rating yet because I havent tested it long enough to see its length of life or rugged qualities, but it looks tough and runs quietly, smoothly, and runs without any necessary setup [unless youre using a mac and want to use it as both a time machine backup (os extended journaled) and also a drive to store files for transfer between macs and pcs (I believe the format for that is FAP)]. Im hopeful that it will survive the long run. I also ordered the Drive Logic DL-64 Portable EVA Hard Drive Carrying Case Pouch (Red) and it fits in there; I just had to remove the side usb to usb dongle cable from its plastic clamps and the clamps from the hard drive as well (which is super easy to do). Both of these fit in the pouchs pocket. Having this hard carrying case will make me feel more at ease when bringing it to rougher environments.

Does support USB 3 as claimed, even as 2.0 is enough, as the HDD itself is not a speed beast :) Practical for travel, not expensive, very quiet. The included cable & the plastic brackets fall off easily, but that is not a problem anyway, as those can be put back in seconds. Spillproof indeed, but not waterproof. The green rubber tends to accumulate dirt, clean with non-alcohol solution, or youll destroy it. Very happy with it. Comes formatted as FAT32, with a small registration app on it (Windows-only), also comes with an html version of it. There is a firmwate update on SP site, applied it, so far, havent had any trouble.

This is just a review for the first 2 minutes with the drive. I just want to say that I always feel a little cheated every time total disk capacity is about 5-10% less than the advertised size, but this is the exception. I havent done a data destructive test on it for true capacity (mainly because it takes some time to write 1TB of data) but I might eventually. However, my computer is reporting that the total capacity of the drive is 999.96GB. That is AMAZING! (If it is true). I will leave it at 5 stars unless I have something to add, or it turns out being a bad product in the long run, but I believe SP is a good company.

This is definitely a rugged and well protected external hard drive. The USB is the more common full sized and not a mini or printer type which makes it easier to connect with whatever cables I have laying around. The transfer is very fast; Being portable, theres no need for a power cord, it uses the power from the USB cable. Its indeed small enough to fit into a shirt pocket if youre so inclined and the rugged rubberized case should protect it as advertised from a short drop, bounce or water splash. It showed up right away in WIndows 8 and I was able to access it just like any other drive.

See how the cord clips nicely to the exterior so you will always have it with you? Well it doesnt stay there. The little clips are made of flexible rubbery plastic and the green rim around the drive is made of soft silicone. The little clips just come right out if you bump the thing. Super annoying. Drive is great otherwise, and Im very happy with the other two (different rugged models) I own, but dont plan to keep the cord like that.

This external hard drive has worked great! A great price and exactly what I needed. I pulled all my photos, music, and movies off of my laptop to save memory and they easily fit on to this 1 terabit external hard drive with plenty of memory to spare. The USB cord that comes with it does not clip in as well as shown in the photo. The tiny black plastic clips come right off. But thats relatively inconsequential overall. It is well constructed with a sturdy hard plastic outer frame. Update: I liked this so much, I purchased a second one for my wife. The hard drive is compatible with both Windows and Apple Operating Systems so no worries there either. Hope this review was helpful! Let me know if you have any questions.

So far, so good. Downloaded my whole computer onto it the same way I would use a flash drive (USB drive). The case holds the cord, which I appreciate so that it doesn’t get separated. I haven’t dropped it, but it seems hefty enough to be able to take a hit. Also not planning on purposefully testing for waterproofing or any other things that might risk it breaking, but if they accidentally happen, I will update my review. So far, I am very pleased with the quality — especially considering the price.
