> 3 dayI tried to download several video games using this external hard drive but gives me an error. It says it cannot differentiate between upper and lower case, I have no idea what this means. I am now using it to back up my computer and that is working excellent like it should. It also holds pictures. The only thing that I have had trouble with is trying to download video games which is the reason I purchased this. Great product if you are using it for a back up hard drive.

Greater than one weekIm extremely disappointed with this product. After initially purchasing in 2015, I had no issues with the drive until recently. About a month ago I attempted to retrieve some old data from this drive; within minutes of plugging in the drive, I was informed all of my data on the drive was corrupt - over 300gbs of highly important historical data. I was able to purchase recovery software, which thankfully recovered >90% of all my lost data, however, ever since then, my external hard drive has been rendered useless, essentially failing to transfer any information after reformatting and attempting to wipe clean any and all data. Ive reached out to Silicon Power to go through their warranty process - Ill update this review accordingly depending on the outcome of the customer service provided. DONT EXPECT THIS DRIVE TO KEEP YOUR DATA SAFE. UPDATE - It has been a month now since I completed the initial warranty process and shipped my hard drive to their location in California. On their website theyve indicated, they have not received the hard drive, although I find this highly unlikely given the amount of time since I shipped the device. I also called their customer support number which resulted in no one answering the phone...Dont buy from these guys. Period.

> 3 dayColor is nice. I dont like the cord holders. They are sharp to the hands. I took them off. The speed is 30% less than my 500GB Silicon Power orange version. Both are 5400 rpm, so I dont know why. Im talking about making system images for Linux and Windows. Also slower to copy paste 18GB mixed files from a fast SSD.

> 3 dayThis external hard drive has worked great! A great price and exactly what I needed. I pulled all my photos, music, and movies off of my laptop to save memory and they easily fit on to this 1 terabit external hard drive with plenty of memory to spare. The USB cord that comes with it does not clip in as well as shown in the photo. The tiny black plastic clips come right off. But thats relatively inconsequential overall. It is well constructed with a sturdy hard plastic outer frame. Update: I liked this so much, I purchased a second one for my wife. The hard drive is compatible with both Windows and Apple Operating Systems so no worries there either. Hope this review was helpful! Let me know if you have any questions.

> 3 dayI purchased this because of the description of the heft and protection described in the specifications, plus the price and the 3 year warranty is unbeatable. So far the unit seems to be perfect, the speed is terrific. I do have a couple of minor complaints, the cable is two short and on this model the cable storage is useless. The two small black attachments that hold the cable are almost in possible to reattach into the groove should they come out. In fact after one week of usage I have lost one of the cable holders. If I were to ever order another I would get the model shown with the orange colored 4 molded grooves - I still give it 4 !/2 stars

> 3 dayGot this put all of my stuff I wanted on it worked great and 2 months later it will not work and you can not get ahold of customer service USA or online do not buy this! UPDATE, I have received support and now this product is working great would give 5 star but a little frustrating it crashed after 2 months. You have to eject this everytime I wasn’t aware of that w the usb. You eject it at the bottom of your computer right side by the clock area. Hope this helps

Greater than one weekThis is another of those products that provides a straightforward function without clutter. It does not come with elaborate backup software, but I view that as a major plus. A lot of hard drive backup programs are so helpful, they make it almost impossible to do anything except for exactly what the software wants you to do, making it hard for you to exercise some free will on how you use the drive. This drive allows you to use all of the capacity, however you want to use it. If you are just a little bit comfortable using a file manager program, this hard drive provides plenty of space to put your files, and flexibility to do it however you wish. It works flawlessly with just the power from the USB plug, and the included cable is a big plus - no digging around to find it. Luckily I have not had to test any of the ruggedness features, but it certainly appears to be well built and sturdy enough for whatever you throw at it.

> 3 dayThis product is an okay design. The usb cable wrap around was a nice way to give the user the option of keeping the cable with the hard drive. The hard drive is a little bulky but that is due to the needed material to keep the shockproof material. After plugging in the hard drive the transfer speed feels a lot slower than your typical drive. I used it on multiple computers and it still slower than the traditional hard drive speed. It is not exactly the smallest hard drive. It comes with a good amount of capacity. The green design is pretty decent and it is easily scratched.

> 3 dayThe silicon power drive is rugged and easy to use. Less than 4 minutes after I retrieved it from my mailbox I was running the backup I have not yet been able to complete. I have 3 Seagate drives, which have been easy to use as back-up drives, but when I suffered a network attack last year and my hard drive was corrupted, I was unable to restore because Seagate uses its own operating system which was not available on my corrupted drive. so even with 3, yes 3! full back-ups, I lost all my data. I have a huge (3TB) multi-platform drive from Seagate which I have not been able to use because the software which makes it usable with windows is on the corrupted drive. I have a freeagent drive which had been my back up, but it is near full and I have not yet given up on retrieving my data which is not corrupted, just needs Seagate software to access. Long story sort, despite having several drives I have not been able to do a full backup since setting up my machine. I knew I needed another drive and it was nt going to be from seagate. This looked like a solid choice, had good reviews and so I decided to give it a try. Unlike seagate, Silicon power uses the native software: so far so good ;) all it took for me to start my back up was to remove the usb cable from where it is stored on the drive, plug it in and launch windows back-up. Despite doing a full back up of a large drive with plenty of data, pictures, music... In 15 minutes I was done, thanks to the availability of usb3. While I have not yet dropped it of a cliff, the drive military grade protection was tested a bit before I even opened it. My mail lady left it out in pouring rain. In fact, one of the reasons that I bought this drive was its water resistance, along with other characteristics which bring it to military standards (shock-proof, solid construction) It does not seem to have been adversely effected by the weather and so far is performing just fine. I may be sorry I set this up as my back up drive as it really is a very portable size, and the construction makes it perfect for travel. However I ultimately wind up using it, so far it seems like it was a good choice: solid, compact, resistant to the elements and more, reasonably priced and easy to use. Id buy another one, and I very well may.
