> 3 dayThis is just a review for the first 2 minutes with the drive. I just want to say that I always feel a little cheated every time total disk capacity is about 5-10% less than the advertised size, but this is the exception. I havent done a data destructive test on it for true capacity (mainly because it takes some time to write 1TB of data) but I might eventually. However, my computer is reporting that the total capacity of the drive is 999.96GB. That is AMAZING! (If it is true). I will leave it at 5 stars unless I have something to add, or it turns out being a bad product in the long run, but I believe SP is a good company.

> 3 dayBought for my sons PS4. 3 stars for unknown hard drive brand and didnt pull it out to check. PS4 just says Silicone Power or whatever. Works so far, no issues as yet. 4th star is for the case. I never LOVE on any rating.

Greater than one weekWell it looks cool and i like how the usb cable is included and slips to the side of the case. Its small and thats nice too. Really cant say to much about it as have not used it much, but in order to enter their contest to win an ipad air you have to write a review so here it is. LOL - Anyhow did copy 284 gigs of data from an old drive and it took about 3.5 to 4 hours to copy all that - might be because the computer copying it was an older computer. It has a 3 year warranty but am hoping it lasts alot longer than that. Really have nothing bad to say about it so far.

24-11-2024Slick little fella love it! Does exactly as I need. Lots and lots of space for the numerous pictures and videos I take. Initially, take out of box plug into computer format immediately. Never again. If you format once pictures are on it - all pictures and videos will be deleted. Speaking from experience.

Greater than one weekVery nice. I was afraid there would be a humming noise but i didnt notice (unless you literally press your ear on it) I was also suspicious of it not getting warm while playing a game off of it but fortunately the answers other gave about it not getting hot were correct. It does not even get warm. I usually place it on my leg and I cant tell it is there. :) The cord fits into the notches on the sides that are removable. While they can come out without much effort they do stay in there just fine. I just just pull the cord out while gently pressing the notch and have never had a problem. I have not tested the shock proof water proof part though...and I am not going to XD

> 3 day»Ive been using this drive at work and home and am very happy with its performance and design. I have the 1TB model which when formatted in Windows using NTFS ended up being 932GBs. »The outer casing consists of hard plastic and the green silicone material you can see in the photos. The green silicone is actually what is surrounding the hard drive inside, protecting it from drops and is how the suspension system works. The green silicone also has a slot that goes all the way around which is used to hold onto the included USB 3.0 cable using 2 clips. The 2 plastic pieces simply screw into each other on each side using 4 screws. The USB port has a flap in the silicone to keep it closed and free of dust when not in use. There are also 2 openings on the bottom plastic part where 2 green strips come through and provide grip on whatever surface you put it on, preventing slips. Simple and effective design for protection, grip and convenience. »There is no external powered needed for this, power it taken from the USB port on whatever device you are using it with »Copying to and from the drive was speedy and I the speeds I received when running a speed test were about what I expected for a traditional hard drive over USB 3.0. I attached a photo of my results which were 120.0MB read and 115.8MB write for sequential writes. Im not sure if Silicon Power wanted me to do this, but I did it anyways, I unscrewed the 4 screws to see what drive was inside. I know Silicon Power does not manufacture hard drives like Western Digital and Seagate do. I was hoping to find a brand name from one of the very few large drive manufacturers and I am happy to report I did. Inside is a 1TB standard Seagate laptop drive. Not some cheap white label drive, a quality brand drive. Good choice. »I have not tested the ability to survive a drop because I am actually using this on a daily basis so I am being slightly cautious. I am however throwing it into a backpack filled with things and plopping it down on a desk multiple times a day, you dont want to treat any standard hard drive with moving parts too terribly, but so far so good, no problems with performance or any strange issues. »Overall this has been a great drive for me and I recommend it to anyone looking for a more durable external drive to take on the go, if anything changes I will update this review in the future. *I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, I hope this review was helpful.

Hello
> 3 daythis has worked great so far! If you use a computer you need an external hard drive, period. Computers can crash and you can loss everything, that is what also most happened to me thankfully I was able to recover my material. I am in graduate school so I have a lot of documents and papers I have to keep track and without this I would be lost. I can upload all my documents to this little guy and take this to the school library, hook up to a PC there and work away - no need to lug my laptop around.

> 3 dayThis hard drive says that it has 1T but when I start transferring my fils for some reason only half of the space was available on disk even tho it was totally empty. Also for Mac users you need to refresh the disc and go through process that you can transfer files from Mac. Not so happy about it, even tho it’s looks stylish and so light.

> 3 dayThe hard drive arrived on time and was in original packaging. Initial thoughts when taking it out of the package were that it was light but felt durable at the same time. The USB cord being attached to the drive itself is a nice feature. When transferring files to the hard drive from a USB 3.0 flash drive using a Windows 10 PC, the file transfer rate was fast than what I get when using my Seagate USB 3.0 Backup Plus drive. The usable size of the drive is actually 930 GB, which wasnt a surprise do to the difference between Gb and GB. After having the drive for a day it fell out of my pocket while running up stairs at work. This would have destroyed my Seagate Backup Plus, but this Silicon Power drive loaded right up when I connected it back to my computer. Overall, Im very impressed. If anything changes, Ill update his review.

> 3 dayAfter my husband passed away suddenly last year I decided to downsize and I moved last summer. A lot of things from our forty two years of marriage ended up in storage and my daughter is doing a phenominal job on doing our family tree, so we are going through pictures. She wanted to scan pictures and save them onto an external hard drive so they all could be together, so she used some of the Amazon Gift Card I got her for Christmas to buy the hard drive. I realized what a great idea that was, so I spent some time on Amazon checking out all the different models and the pros and cons of each. I knew that I wanted 1TB so that narrowed it a bit, and I read tons of reviews on each. What I liked about this one was that it was shock proof, scratch proof etc...I am very careful with my electronics, but everyone drops things occasionally, so I was really interested in what this one had to offer. I liked the way the USB cord wrapped and attached to the Hard Drive Itself. I figured there would be less chance of it getting lost. My daughter put all the pictures we have scanned already on to mine. She said it was fast and worked well. The only negative thing about it and it was not enough to take away a star was that the cord attaches to two clips, one on each side. However the small black clips are not permanently attached to either the hard drive or the USB cord and they fall off quite easily. They fell off the first time a couple of minutes after I took the hard drive out of the box and again when my daughter gave it back to me after adding the pictures. I originally planned not to buy a case, like I usually do for all my electronics, because of the shock proof and scratch proof properties. I decided to get one so that I could be sure that I didnt lose the cord or one of the clips. All the cases come in as different sizes as there are portable hard drives. I took the dimensions of the hard drive from the product page and then compared them with the dimensions of available cases in the price point I wanted to pay and I found an Orico case on Amazon which was reasonably priced. I chose the green color and was surprised when it arrived that it fit the hard drive like a glove and the green almost matched the green edging on the hard drive. I would recommend this portable hard drive because it works very well and has plenty of space for a lot of storage. As I stated, the loose clips to fasten the cord onto the unit does not effect the way the hard drive works, so unless that would be a deal breaker, you could pick up a case and be assured you wont lose the cord.
