It felt very stiff and cheap at the beginning... almost like a hard plastic... but after a few weeks of use, its broken in some and is starting to get a much softer, leather feel. If you have any weight in the bag, the strap can get a bit uncomfortable near your neck, so you will shift it around a lot. I do love that it has a very long strap, so that is a plus
