It took me about 30 seconds because I already had the Smart Life app. I havent had this long enough to see how it preforms, but will update this review if anything goes wrong. The outlet covers are misleading in the photo. They are button button caps and they do not have some sort of tether. When you use one of the outlets, better not lose the cap. Furthermore, the covers are not very snug in the receptacle. I worry that the wind might blow it away in my area. I am made my own tether using something like fabric tape that will last outdoors.
