I wouldnt recommend using this one on the electric wood chipper you keep in your kids room because, after a power interruption, it will turn itself On even if it had been in an Off state before the power went out.

If you have an Alexa and wifi, I will suggest you to try these smart plugs as well. Its really more convenient once its installed. Although its tedious and time-consuming, the manual makes it easy to install at our home. Once its installed, you will be living a smarter life. You can simply scan the QR code to download the app Smart Life - Smart Living. I have ordered a pack of 4, so that I can easily connect my lamps and fan to wifi. We just need to command, for instance - Alexa - Turn on Lamp 1 and you are all set.

Another update: We already had a power strip that worked great behind our TV. I used these to make them smart. All 12 worked great! Now we can control the power for each connection with Google Home. Update: I have 3 Netgear 2000 Powerlines. They are all located behind furniture and require an occasional restart which meant moving furniture because they cant be controlled by an app. Additionally they are located on 2 separate floors. So it was always a hassle. I have decided to experiment using these smartplugs to connect to the wall outlet. So far they are working! All 3 lights on my Powerlines are green. The one in the picture also has the power plug connecting my power strip to my modem and router, which means I can restart everything with one plug. Thankfully it is still in reachable distance to push the button if necessary without moving the cabinet. Original: It was super easy to set up with wifi. I didnt have to do anything to my network (like switch to only 2.4GHz). It connected just as easily with Google Home when I linked it from the Smart Life app. My only complaint is that they are too big to have one in both outlets, top and bottom.

Loaded app using QR code, socket selection did no work, nor was it even made the way the instructions in the box said, the scan feature didnt work. WAste of money.

The app for the plug didnt load on the Fire Tablet. Amazon and I tried for an hour and a half on the phone to get it to load. Finally I tried to load it on my smart phone. It loaded. Then the plug didnt work on the smart phone. I had to always re-sync it every time I turned it off or on. Then after several hours it started working on the smart phone and the Tablet with Alexa. Now it works most of the time.

Easy to install. Makes life easier.
