I bought this to sharpen gravers for jewelry making. It works well as a shaping stone, but doesnt get the high polish needed for gravers. I had to buy a finer stone to get that final polish that I was hoping for with this one. Still, it is handy to have around when I need to do more reshaping than the other stone can handle.

This is just one of those purchases that I put off for too many years, while trying alternatives that never worked out just right. For all that time, I have been sharpening my knives on a Smiths soft Arkansas stone permanently mounted to a cedar slab with a cedar cover, then stropping them on an old wide leather belt impregnated with razor stropping compound. I am very satisfied with the quality of this stone, and with the fact that it is NOT permanently affixed to the lower part of the wooden box. It permits me to hone and dress the edges of my knifes without too much grinding of material. Very pleased.

This is a very nice stone, and the box is very nice also. I have used this stone several times and it does what it is supposed very well.

Stones are as described. They made things sharp. Box is cheap and the lid isnt attached.

I have 4 sharping stones that get my knives pretty sharp but I couldnt get it to the next level, this stone got me to that hair splitting razor blade sharp, after I used it on my EDC knife along with knives plus strop it will slice through a piece of paper by the weight of the knife, Ive never had a stone that would put an edge on a knife like that, outstanding performance

Love this stone. Use it for the final step of a three phase sharpening process for my woodworking chisels.
