> 3 dayBought this to use on softer woods lile cedar and thin ⅛ birch plywood. Cuts very well and clean and has a half inch long cutting depth. I messed up and snapped it on some quarter inch birch though, I think it may have gotten gummed up with two sided tape holding my project down. I will order another one however because this bit was great.

21-11-2024I like to cut signs (and intricate pieces of signs) with my Shaper Origin, and this bit can get into sharp corners much more effectively than other bits (like the 1/8th or 1/4 inch). I’ve started working with 2.7mm plywood, and this bit can easily cut it in one pass, and as it’s a down cut bit, it seems to minimize the sanding needed on the top edge (which is a big deal for me). The bit is a little pricey, but this far I’d say “Worth every penny!”

> 3 dayI normally love SpeTools because they pride themselves on quality but this bit broke the first time I used it in soft wood. I have been a woodworkers for 7 years now so I am positive it was not user error. I am very disappointed as I was not able to receive a refund.

> 3 dayIt started off doing well and I thought it was going to be a winner, but about 3/4 the way through the project it snapped. And yes I had the plunge rate and feed rate set accordingly.

> 3 dayI was happy to find a bit this size, and knew to be gentle with it. It didnt matter. It broke off the first time I used it, and I made sure to use soft wood and not go more that 1/16 depth the first cut.

> 3 dayWouldn’t recommend, product snapped within first use of it. Have settings on my CNC to have the machine cut 1/16 of an inch each pass and when it got half way through a 7/32” thick cut through; it snapped. The snapped end looked very granular too so doesn’t seem to be made from a good quality mix of metals, or not annealed properly.
