Assuming you already have the base game, this is WELL worth the price of admission. Play time is supposedly 2 - 4 hours, but realistically more like 4 - 6 hours with a normal, casual, social atmosphere (talking, cooking, drinking, and visiting), but its a phenomenal time, if youre into this sort of thing, and its about the same with this expansion. The expansion is only ~$35, which makes combat/battle encounters snappier and adds more dimension and options, which is also more than worth the cost. Having more options with the cards adds an aspect of deck building to the game, if you and your friend(s) agree that its fine to curate your missions/objectives/project to your play style before you kick things off. Same stuff as the base game,, just more of it. If you didnt like the base game,, this wont fix things.. if you liked the base game,, this is more of what youre already on-board with. It isnt a party game for more than four people, and its worthless if you dont have friends whore patient-enough to be engaged for hours, but if you do, its an absolute homerun.

A fun expansion that adds a decent amount. they finally give the rebellion and empire their own combat cards and add some new ways to play. I honestly think this is a good addition if you already enjoy this game.

Must buy if you like Rebellion. The battle system has been reworked and is much better. The new characters and missions bring a new dimension to an already fantastic game. Love the expansion. Doubt I will ever play the base game alone again.

Rise of the Empire is a fantastic expansion for the star wars in a box Star Wars: Rebellion! It adds LOTS of new ships and other miniatures! It adds MORE heroes and villains (mostly taken from Rogue One), including Jabba The Hutt!! It adds MORE mission cards that give both sides more cool powers and abilities! It adds a few new rules that enhance the game without bogging things down. I was not a big fan of Rogue One, but the characters and R1 themed cards just add more to the deep theme and fantastic immersion in the Star Wars universe that Rebellion offers. In fact, I think Star Wars Rebellion offers the Rebel player a chance to retell the R1 story in a MUCH better way (in board game form) then the movie did! Thats the power of this game! And, most importantly, Rise Of The Empire streamlines (but does not completely fix) the clunky combat system; the games only flaw. But the rules changes are a HUGE step in the right direction. This is a MUST HAVE....its as simple as that!

Adds depth and improves gameplay without adding time play time! Sometimes expansions mean more confusion; not with Rebellion: Rise of the Empire. Ive played through with friends a couple times now, and what was already a good game has been made even better. The biggest improvement is to combat. The tactic cards in the base game were a little awkward and felt somewhat extraneous. Rise of the Empire replaces the old tactic cards with Cinematic Combat cards that represent potentially game changing moments in combat. The cards actually tie to which units are present in battle, which adds an additional strategic element to how to deploy your fleet and troops. The new missions and refinement to some from the base game are great, as are the new characters. Didnt like the added green die for new units and minor skills, but this does increase the total number of dice you can roll in combat beyond ten, which may sometimes be a difference maker. This expansion has made a fun game even more fun to play, which makes it well worth the money.

the game is dumb but the game pieces look good. Ill change the rules and game layout for a better game. Sometimes dumb people design games that take too long to set up. Axis and allies is the same...awesome age but takes an hour to set up and days to finish. There are a dozen ways to shorten a game and set up time if game designers use their brains or asks people.

New leaders. New missions. New tactic cards that lead to more fully cinematic combats... Rise of the Empire is an expansion for Star Wars™: Rebellion inspired largely by Rogue One. And just as the movie provided new insight into the Galactic Civil War presented in the original Star Wars trilogy, Rise of the Empire adds new depth and story to your Rebellion game experience. With eight new leaders, thirty-six plastic miniatures, five target markers, two attachment rings, three new dice, and more than one-hundred new cards, you’ll gain new ways of subverting your opponent’s plans, and you’ll discover a whole new chapter in your ongoing Galactic Civil War!
