This mounting bracket fit well into a deep closet and mounts easily with an strong anchor kit. This bracket is sturdily constructed and easily holds my 16 port switch and patch panel. Do be aware that the kit only comes with enough mounting screws and clip nuts for 2 devices (8 in total). If you plan on installing multiple patch panels or switches, you may need to purchase more screws/clip nuts.

Currently in the process of building a rack for home modem, router, battery backup, and eventually throw on a patch panel and switch to manage the cat6 Im in the process of running through my house. This rack is perfect for what I need. Theres plenty of room for a patch panel, switch, and to add in a shelf to set the modem/battery backup from my ISP on. Its sturdy and easy to put up. Also has a grounding nut on it to hook up a grounding wire to. I did not use the screws that came with it to mount to wall, they would probably be fine, but I wanted something heavier duty, that I didnt have to second guess, so I installed it with 1.5in 1/4 lag bolts with washers. It also came with plenty of winged nuts and screws to attach racking equipment to it.

Works

This turned out to be EXACTLY what I needed for my office network closet. Perfect amount of space for a patch panel, a switch, a 1U PDU, and a 1U shelf, with enough space left over to add an additional switch and patch panel if I ever need to. Mounting to the wall was extremely straightforward. Not having to assemble the unit was also a great feature. Basically just pulled it out of the box, mounted it to the wall, and started racking up my gear!

We got the 6U version (wall mounted). The listing on Amazon is a little off: it will fit the UDM-PRO but you may need to buy a right-angle power cord. I happened to have one lying around and it worked fine. Overall it comes with three sets of four retaining screws. If you plan on mounting more than three rackmount items, you will need to buy more screws. Ive got a patch panel, a switch, and a UDM-PRO, and am out of the server nuts. NOTE: the nuts that came with the UDM-PRO are too big to fit into this unit. It may need specific nuts to fit into it (that I am sure Startech has listed what nuts will fit, they are very good at documentation!)

decent gauge steel. easy to install. feels sturdy and has a decent finish. only negative i had, although they did include a few of the rack nuts and screws, there werent enough. would a few more have destroyed the profit margin?

I like this rack but they only supply enough screws and nuts for three devices. I buy the 6U because I need to mount 5 devices in it. You should know this before you are onsite, those nuts arent something you can buy at Home Depot/Lowes.

So far I am really pleased with this patch panel. The looks are pretty good. It is a nice black and the paint quality seems like itll be free from chips and easy to clean. The installation was really easy. The included instructions have a drill template which lined up perfectly with the wall studs. I was left feeling confident this patch panel was not going to fall off the wall. Im really glad I went with the 8U panel. It was not that much more and it allowed more breathing room for my equipment. One feature I wish this panel had was something to allow for cable management. Perhaps some mounting options to hide long cords and such. I paired this panel with a StarTech 1U vented shelf. I like the resulting look and functionality. I with StarTech made a 2U shelf that was the appropriate depth. Their existing 2U shelf is too deep for this panel. Overall I am very pleased with this panel. I would definitely purchase again.

Too shallow for most equipment. Did not survive shipping well. Did come with helpful templates for mounting.
