> 3 dayGreat clothesline pulley. Super smooth and quiet. Give it a good cleaning before use to get rid of manufacturing/casting aluminum residue. After a full season our line is still clean and has not tarnished from the aluminum.

Greater than one weekThe unit appears to be well built, installation was straight forward. However, it would be a lot better pulley assembly if there were some way to lubricate the bearing surfaces. A grease fitting would be a great improvement. Ive got a long run of clothesline, with the anchor pulley about 125 feet away, and this pulley complains LOUDLY when in use. In the winter Ive got a couple of small bird feeders on the clothesline, and need to refill them on a daily basis. The pulley squeals as Im bringing the feeders back to refill them or running them back out to about mid-point. Ive found that I need to pull on both sides of the pulley, one hand pulling cable towards the house, the other pulling the cable on the other side of the pulley away from the house. Ive tried applying some penetrating oil to the axle, which doesnt help at all. I debated leaving a rating of 2 or 3, would not buy this item again.

> 3 dayHad put up our clothesline with small stainless pulleys and it took two hands to roll it. With these ball bearing pulleys, I give it a little push with one hand and it keeps rolling for a few feet. So smooth and easy.

> 3 dayThe old metal pulley was grinding on its side brackets which was really annoying and didnt move too easy, so it was time for a replacement. The Strata Ball Bearing Style Clothesline Pulley was an easy swap and provided a much smoother and quieter operation while running out the clothes on the line. It appears well built and I dont doubt it will last well. When I used the old pulley I would clip a wooden clothes line pin onto the rope near the pulley which would prevent the clothes on a windy day from traveling back to the pulley which sometimes would put them in the shade. I tried this with the new pulley, but the open frame design caused the clothes pin to ride over the pulley and throw the rope off the pulley. BUT alas.... the new pulley appeared to have a feature(?) that would seem to allow locking the pulley in place. Not sure if this was the intention of the design or not, but nothing I found seemed to document this feature. The pulley has a set of holes, one in the pulley and two in the pulley frame. When aligned, a pin can be inserted to lock the pulley in place and preventing the line from blowing the clothes back to the pulley. The extra bracket arm that has the small hole was an ideal spot to tie off and hang the lock pin. Again dont know if this was the intent of the hole and the extra bracket arm part, but worked well.
