Swanson TL043M 9-Inch Savage Magnetic Torpedo Level

Im a plumber and use this level all the time and ive had it for about 8 months and it gets beat up pretty bad most days and just keeps on working also the light is just awesome when your in a dim lit room or up in a dark joist bay

At work Ive been laying out, tacking/ welding and most of my work is in darker & confined areas. So to me this torpedo level was a perfect buy. Its solid aluminum, the light is bright, strong magnets, and the best part its only $21.

I wall mount TVs, the magnetic feature is great for mounting brackets. Overall it looks and feels like a top quality tool.

I would definitely recommend getting this product in a longer length than the 9” version that I got. I have no issues with the inner workings of the level, but I quickly realized that there is no point to using a 9” level with this degree of accuracy. For example, if you use this on a wall, it will tell you to the .01 of a degree how level the wall is in the 9” long section you are looking at. That’s great in theory, but if you move the level 1 foot in any direction, you will get another reading that is 2 degrees different. All materials have bows and bends in them, so the extreme level of accuracy provided by this tool is misleading. If you need a 9” level, just get a plastic bubble level with no digital reader. If you want a digital level, buy one that’s 4 feet long.

Working great for a month, it was easy to read, the accuracy was spot on. 1 day I grabbed out of the tool bag and the bubble was junk. I will have to stick with my old Walmart brand.
