Ive had this backpack for around 4 years now. The material of the product is amazing very durable. I am not pretty sure if this can handle big portions of water. But for sure it can handle a light rain. For traveling is amazing, you can pack at least 4 days of clothes inside this+ your laptop and any other gadgets you can fit in all those pockets. The best backpack ive ever had. 100% recommended

Overall I really like this bag, and would recommend for purchase, as its good value for the price. Some things to be aware of however: 1. Large gromets would let water into the two side pockets if it rained on the bag, or it got splashed. I would have liked to see better weather proofing. 2. The main stuff pocket has a rather small opening at the top. Not a big deal, but I like a full width opening at the top. 3. The pocket separators in the main stuff pocket dont attach to the bottom of the bag, which is fine for papers/folders, etc... but if I put something small in the front of this pocket, it ends up shifting back and lying under the separator pockets. I have to do more hunting than is necessary for these items when they do shift (headphones, or small notebook, etc...) 4. being left handed, I am somewhat miffed that the laptop section only opens on the right hand side, but I do like the side opening pocket and the padding.

After many types of messenger bags I decided to switch out to a backpack for a lot of my work. I did some research online, checked out the reviews and decided on this SwissGear SA 1923. Good bag. its a very well made back and so far has held up to a lot of my punishment. Its easy to sling over my shoulder and when I have to carry something large I can wear it proper and not worry about it slipping off. It has ample storage space and a lot of compartments to store the odd bits. In the main computer compartment I store my Lenovo 14 laptop. The only addition I did was put a piece of foam at the bottom of the compartment from a Targus bag to keep the bumps from hurting anything. The bag is made to TSA specs so the next set of zippers inwards will cleave the backpack in two. In normal mode it allows me to store my iPad or bluetooth keyboard in a webbed compartment. Oh, quick hint. At the top, where all these zippers meet, theres a loop where I put a carabiner. All these zippers have a hole at the end where theyll easily fit onto a small carabiner. Do this or the weight of the laptop will pull the zipper down. No problem unless youre wearing the backpack, driving down the road on your motorcycle. VERY close call. Side pockets allow me to separate out my AC adapter and small amount of tools. Theres a large central compartment for my notebook (paper) and iPad and a front pouch that gathers all of my other bits and pieces. Oh yeah, theres a top front pocket, by the handle, thats perfect to hold quick to get at items. Great for drink mixes or granola bars. The material seems tough, it stores a lot of my junk and is pretty easy to carry around. Exactly why I purchased it. Easy to carry by the handle as well as one or both shoulder straps. Plenty of pockets and carabiner attachment points. And, is TSA compliant. But why not 5 stars? I only had two problems with this bag, both relatively minor. First, it will fall FLAT ON ITS FACE! The way the bag is made causes the bag to flop over onto its face no matter how its loaded. Not really a problem but I like to put my bag down so I can get at the pockets and the first time I did this it took a header off a chair and crashed onto a concrete floor. Kind of a pain to always have to hide away the pockets when you put it down. Second complaint is the lack of storage for small items. I have a lot of cables, adapters, and other small do-dads. There really isnt a good small item dividers. Like I said, small complaint but important to me. Ive gotten around it by purchasing other small zippered storage bags that I can stuff into the larger compartments. All in all a good bag. Glad I purchased it and would recommend to others but with those two caveats.

Very nice bag. I returned it as it was a bit big and bulky for a 15 inch laptop bag. Will be good if you plan on putting a lot of stuff in it. But it was just too much bag for what I travel with as I dislike bulky things.

OK, so that may be a bit dramatic. I looked for quite awhile for a bag reasonability priced with pockets, bottle pockets, key pockets, kleenix pockets, eyeglass case pockets, book pockets, laptop phone and cord pockets and so on. I commute many mornings via Park and ride into work and need a bag that is easy to carry, pockets for bus pass, phone, Kindle, paper files, pens, keys, glasses, lunch bag, rain coat, and wow. This bag has it all. I am quite satisfied. Sturdy construction. Zippers tough and hold up to my every day use. I have been using for a couple months (or thereabouts) and have nothing about which to complain. Side pockets, one on each side, easily handle my 22oz thermos and coffee cup. The front pocket has slots for pens, markers. There is a attached key clip thingy that easily releases and re-clips. I dont use the padded laptop pocket much - it is large enough for a 15 - 17 screen. My wife things it larger than necessary, however, she isnt the one on the bus in rain and or snow wanting an easy one hand or over the shoulder bag. I do recommend it! Did I mention it has pockets? 22Oct2013 update - I continue to really enjoy this bag. This week (no kidding) I have seen this same bag over the shoulder of a fellow bus commuter, and a gentlemen who belongs to the same wellness center. I have take work out clothes with me to work using this bag so that I could stop and workout on my way home. This is ideal in my book.

I have spent a long time looking for a great work backpack and this is it. My basic requirements were a bag that could hold my work gear; laptop, tablet, chargers, mouse, and most importantly papers and files. Its easy to find a briefcase or messenger bag that has dividers for paperwork, however it was nearly impossible to find this simple, yet critical feature in a backpack. This bag met all of those requirements. In total the backpack has 3 main compartments; one with the usual pen/pencil pockets, a mid size compartment with the file dividers, and finally the laptop compartment. I have a 15 inch work laptop, however there is enough room in the compartment for one up to 17 inches. In additional to the main compartments, there are 2 large side zippered pockets, 2 side mesh pockets, 1 small back pocket, and 1 zippered internal pocket. The backpack has a zipper travel feature which splits the bag in half for faster TSA lines. I was skeptical that TSA was going to let this pass, however I was able to pass the bag through xray machines in two US international airports without incident. Lastly, I have scoliosis which makes carrying bags painful at times. This is the main reason I wanted to switch from a briefcase to a backpack. This is hands down the most comfortable backpack Ive owned and has excellent weight distribution capabilities. I would recommend this bag to anyone who needs a solid, large capacity work backpack.

I have been using this backpack daily for four months now, and its been holding up well to the abuse. I generally carry the following: - A 15.6 inch HP laptop - Power cord for said laptop - Extension cord for power at coffee shops - Power spliter so I can get power at coffee shops - Books of various sizes (for the most part, small - about 5x8 on average, 1/2 - 1 thick) - First aid kit - External Hard Drive - etc. As you can see, I carry a LOT of stuff, generally running about 25lbs worth of stuff in my backpack at any given time. I was hesitant to buy this backpack initially due to reviews about breaking straps, but so far I havent had any issues with it. Now, for me, I would prefer to have a bit more room in the backpack, but thats just because, as mentioned earlier, I carry a LOT of stuff. For the pro/con list people: Pros: - Good padding on the back, pretty comfortable - Decent number of pockets. Two large (one only for laptop, one for laptop + accessories), one medium sized (should be able to fit an iPad), and at least five small pockets (one hidden inside the medium pocket. - Fits my 15.6 laptop perfectly - Two water bottle carrying slots Cons: - The side zipper pockets cant carry much if you use water bottles since they interfere with each other. - Could use a bit more padding on the bottom of the backpack

I have been using this backpack for almost a year now and I am really happy with the purchase. Swiss Gear makes great backpacks and is well worth spending the extra money to have a durable backpack that will last you for a very long time. I can manage to fit a lot of things in it without any issue for school or when I am going out on a trip. There is a lot of space and can put an extra laptop or device in it. There are plenty of compartments to it.

At first, I liked the pack a lot. It seemed well-built, has pockets everywhere, plenty of room and is TSA-friendly. (No more removing the laptop through the scanner). Theres plenty of room for my 15 MacbookPro which is stored securely and is well-padded. After daily use for about 7 months the pack is showing its age. Im constantly forgetting to close all the zippers (its hard to tell when theyre open with the black-on-black color). It no longer wants to sit upright, but is always falling over. A couple of the zippers dont glide smoothly any more, but get hung up. Finally, some of the interior pockets are getting loose and floppy. Even so, its a better pack then I had before and Ill probably keep using it until it falls apart, but I cant say if this is one of the better SwissGear backpacks. SwissGear packs seem everywhere and I expected a little better quality. The pack is reasonably lightweight and I got it at a decent price. I would call it a good, but not great backpack.

This is very spacious with more than enough pockets. The only problem I have is that my 3 inch binder is hard to fit in here. There are two separate large spaces but neither is easy to fit the large binder in. Other than that it works great and keeps me organized on the go. Im often a walking desk because I have to carry most my desk contents location to location.
