> 3 dayWe got these to hang on our grill to hold our utensils. Everybody knows grill utensils can be quite heavy and these really do the trick. They are very strong and we have had no slipping. If you need to hang fairly heavy items, get these!

> 3 dayI bought these so I could hang pot holders on the fridge. If you think a 30 lb strength magnet is overkill for that, you probably dont have as many pets as I do. So far, no animals have managed to either break them or pull them down and carry them off.

> 3 dayI bought these to hang the oven mitts against the fridge and these definitely are strong magnets that can hold heavier things. These come with a washer install in between which makes it easy to remove apart. Although, dont make the mistake I did where I removed the washer and place the two magnets about two inches away and it just instantly grabbed each other. It took a little more effort to take apart but its possible :). The surface protector was interesting because I thought it was going to be felt or something but it was just a piece of paper. It does the job though of not scratchibg your applied surface. I definitely would recommend these!

Greater than one weekThis magnet is powerful. My grill doesn’t have anything to hang my utensils on and I thought, maybe amazon will have something I can use and I found this product. It’s perfect. Holds all my accessories regardless of the weight.

> 3 dayThese are definitely not 30 lb magnets. My purse weighs 6 lbs and when I hang it on this hook it just slides down the metal surface.

> 3 dayThe neodymium magnets in these hooks are very strong and they perform as advertised. But READ THE SELLERS CAUTIONS before buying. The 30 lb rating is for a vertical pull, meaning that the hook is hanging vertically from a horizontal surface. If the hook is attached to a vertical surface, it can support much less weight. Why do you think this is? There are several reasons. First, the hook is being pulled downward along the vertical surface, but its maximum adhesion power is perpendicular to the surface. This will tend to rotate the hook away from the surface. Beyond that, there are other reasons that the hooks may not appear to adhere as well as one might think. Magnets are attracted to ferrous materials, such as iron. The reason that the magnets adhere to steel surfaces is because of the iron in the steel. Steel is, after all, a composite of several metals, not just iron. Some steel varieties have far less iron in them than others and the hooks will have weaker adherence to these types of steel. In fact, Id go so far to say that the 30 lb vertical rating on these hooks is likely to be valid only for an iron surface. Got it so far, 1- and 2- star reviewers? There are different grades of steel, some of which contain more or less iron. The less iron in the particular grade of steel in your range hood, file cabinet or cruise cabin wall, the less well that the hooks will adhere. But thats not all. Most modern surfaces are either painted or sheathed with plastic or some other material. Separating the magnet of the hook from the metal with a layer of paint, enamel, plastic or paper in between reduces the adhesion force. Said differently, no matter what is put between the hook and the raw steel, if there is a layer there, the magnet of the hook will not adhere as well. The thicker the layer, the less adhesion. Mr. and Mrs. 1- and 2- star, are you still out there? Yes, there is even still more. If you use one of these hooks on a vertical surface, the coating on the surface can have more or less friction. Some surfaces are very slick. The hook will have a greater tendency to slide down a slick surface than it will on a higher-friction surface. Consider the extreme: take oil or grease and coat the metal surface, then stick the hook to it. Now the hook will easily slide downward and will support hardly any weight. The point is that the nature of the surface that the hook is adhered to is very important. Get it? Its abundantly obvious that the 1- and 2- star reviewers are almost exclusively people who have no notion of these concepts. Im writing this because they have unfairly downgraded this product which works just as advertised. Its a good product. Id buy it again.

Greater than one weekDoesn’t hold a cast iron skillet but it does hold up pretty well. It depends on the metal you put it on. Holds almost nothing on my cheap fridge, bummer because I wanted it to hold some pans. but works well on some metal shelves where I have them hold dog leashes, sweater, purse. Really useful actually! I was silly enough to get two stuck together when opening. Had to break one with a hammer!
