> 24 hourI own a Starrett tape measure and it is dead accurate. I also own several other brands and none are accurate. I bought this Tajima on the recommendation of Rob Cosman, a great woodworker and teacher. I love that it is easy to read, has both Imperial and Metric, and has an extra long and tough hook that makes long measurements so much easier. The auto lock feature is a real plus, and what is really great, it is dead accurate. I will be giving them as Christmas gifts to my handiest friends this year.

> 24 hourLooks great, accurate, and feels very well built. I love the white tape as apposed to the yellow that has become standard it seems. Also, despite other reviews that stated these were made in China, the package on mine stated made in Japan. Perhaps its luck of the draw for that aspect, but overall this is a great tape measure!

> 24 hourAs a high end furniture and cabinet maker, I am very particular about my tape measures and am constantly searching for a better one. These Tajimas are outstanding. After getting my first one, I immediately bought five more to spread around my shop.

> 24 hourNice wide tape, clear lettering, with both English and metric units that are very easy to read. Also, the tape is double-sided - which comes in handy every once in a while. The hook is very heavy and attached to the tape with more than the usual number of pins. The tape, once opened to measure, stays open automatically - and is easily retracted with a touch. It also has something of a shock-absorber that protects the hook if you drop the device. It costs a bit more than others, but its features warrant the cost. Couldnt be happier with it.

> 24 hourAt last, a good tape measure with all the features I’ve been looking for without gimmicks. Mine is clearly marked (black on white with red) with Standard and Metric on both sides. The end piece is solid stainless steel. The tape auto “soft” locks by default, which is the perfect design. Depressing the thumb button activates the tape retract function. Depressing the bottom part of the same rocker button activates the “hard” lock to hold a measurement. The case feels solid even though it may not be as 3-story-drop-proof as a construction site Dewalt or Makita—but this thing is such a better design. I will have to remember to update this review after I get some time clocked on this tape. Finally, the belt hook works perfectly—neither too tight nor too loose. When in doubt, pay a bit more for a reputable Japanese brand and save money in the long run by buying a lasts-a-lifetime tool.
