> 24 hourThis is the first book by a new author, John Mecom. I hope to see more of his work. One often sees Ernest Hemingways writing style depicted as containing short, declarative sentences. It strikes me, as a Hemingway fan, that Mecom could have taught Hemingway how to write short, declarative sentences. But more than that, Mecom has a gift for succinct, colorful description that is rare indeed. The book is a very interesting and exciting read, combining interwoven subplots that play off each other and keep the readers interest. There is something in this book for everyone. In addition, it seems apparent that Mecom has an eye for detail that is rarely paralleled. I hope to see more from this author. Without giving away the ending of the book, for example, the author sets up the possibility of a sequel. Whether that will be the case or not remains to be seen. The author seems to have a great imagination; and I would expect his writing to range among subjects. Time will tell.

> 24 hourA great book that rivals John Grisham. Suggest you read both of Johns books. Hope he writes many more thrillers.

> 24 hourIve always enjoyed novels about bears so I was disappointed when the bear pictured on the front cover only had a few pages in the story and then exited stage right, never to be seen again. I found the subject of the book to be interesting and the descriptions of Yellowstone National Park to lend authenticity to the setting. I enjoyed the character development of Jack McCarty and Liz. The one part of this book that I didnt enjoy was the pacing. One moment we were spending several chapters advancing the plot just a little and then racing toward conclusions in one chapter. I did find the plot intriguing and I was kept guessing to the last page. Overall the book is worth the money and deserving of a read.

> 24 hourThis book is a very well-written action novel that takes place in a beautiful area of the country --- Wyomng and Montana. He weaves a good tale and describes the countryside in a very appealing way. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it for other readers.

> 24 hourThe author has put together a believable and interesting story set in a real location. The descriptions of the locations and the storyline are detailed but not overbearing in length. He develops the characters well and makes the reader feel a realtionship with them. As I began reading the book, I found myself wanting to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next; I read the book over a two day stretch.

> 24 hourJohn Mecom has managed to combine a murder mystery and a stunning outdoor setting-Yellowstone. he writes with the authority of a biologist and outdoorsman. This is an exciting read by the fireplace on a cold evening. The author has done a good job of setting the scene for an even more exciting sequel. This is one we may see on film someday.

> 24 hourOutstanding read from an author who has vast knowledge of the Yellowstone National Park enviorns and the technical/forensic background to create a super story. His wildlife and animal expertise is evident. A great murder mystery that will not let put down the book till finished. Looking for John Mecom to follow this with another thriller.
