> 24 hourThis was an awesome sci-fi novel! I raced through it! I loved the premise and the twists and the characters. However, I just found out it was written 11 years ago and the rest of the series obviously hasn’t followed. I’m devastated!

> 24 hourInteresting sci-fi. Didnt realize thats what it was when I first started reading it, and when I realized they were people on another planet, not just someone on Earth who had powers, I was kind of skeptical, but kept reading. It was very enjoyable and I liked the pace. Didnt know it was supposed to be a series when I got it (if I did, I dont remember), and am now anxious to get the next one to see what happens to these people. I have always been fond of stories with ordinary people who happen to have extraordinary powers and this delivered.

> 24 hourA wonderful second book from this New York Times Best Selling Author! I wouldnt be surprised if we see this one in the Times spotlight as well before long. I must confess to my initial feeling of confusion during the first couple of chapters and point of view changes. I struggled to grasp who was who and when and where things were happening. But that feeling was quickly overcome as the story grabbed my attention and refused to let go. I thought the story had great pace, terrific and believable plot, realistic and tangible characters, and just enough romance to make me aaww and not enough to make me gaak! I love a good set of power-hungry nemeses. Very dynamic. I personally was concerned when I heard Victorine Lieskes next book was not going to be a Mystery Romance but more of a Sci-fi Romance. Im not usually a big Sci-fi reader. But this book was not overwhelming with alien jargon or lacking in the intrigue I found so enjoyable in Not What She Seems. I was pleasantly surprised all the way around. Those willing to risk trying something a just a little different wont be disappointed. And lastly, I love that the ending could be, just conclusive enough, for those who would like to read only one book in the series and call it quits, and yet is open enough for those of us left pressing the next page button repeatedly on our little Kindles wishing the second installment was already written! I look forward to it with eager fingers.

> 24 hourAnother thrilling journey by this author! The Overtaking is well written, with its draw you in and keep you there pacing. This series will be a definite page turner since it features the perfect combination of action and romance. It may take a few chapters to get your bearings, dont fret, the writing will answer any questions you may have about the story. Victorine has no problems taking risks in the addictive alternate universe that she has created, a place where likeable characters can be killed off and the fate of your race is up to you to determine. I really hope the sequel is soon coming, because I cant wait to know what happens next!

> 24 hourSince I dont haunt the Young Adult romance aisle of the bookstore, I wasnt sure what to expect when I read this novel. What I got was an enjoyable read and characters I truly cared for. Shayne and Danielle are strong, likeable characters put into an interesting and twisty situation. Danielle and her people have been kidnapping people from Shaynes world for a long time. Now Danielle is hunting for Shayne while he is trying to stop them. In the process of them dealing with their divergent goals, they fall in love. They also encounter other honorable people and villains. These secondary characters didnt have the same depth and development as the primary characters. For the most part that isnt a major problem, however I would have liked to have seen them more fleshed out. Since this story is a romance and not science fiction, I kept a more open mind when it came to some of the futuristic plot elements. A few of them had me raising an eyebrow, they didnt detract from the romance storyline. I would have liked to see a bit more ambiguity when figuring out who the bad guys were. I think that wouldve helped ratchet up the action and conflict. Maybe that is not the way Young Adult Romance handles things. Again, this really didnt detract from the story for me. I liked this book a lot and none of the issues I mentioned really slowed me down as I read the story. Ill have my eye on Victorine and will grab the her next book when it comes out.

> 24 hourIm not much of a sci-fi fan, but the Overtaking was a really enjoyable read, feeling more like an urban fantasy or paranormal romance. The writing was fresh and fun, great turns of phrase and fast paced. Being an indie book, its also nice to point out that this read as clean as any book from a traditional publisher (no errors or typos, etc). The story kept me interested throughout, and I enjoyed the romantic elements. The romance between the main characters was set up really nicely, particularly with the set backs the romance kept facing, and how the characters re-approached their relationship each time. I would give this 5 stars, except that I wish it had ended more wrapped up. I understand there is a sequel coming, but I personally prefer a book to come to a more complete ending even with a sequel on its heels. I am totally hanging out for the sequel now though. I can see this story and world being developed into a great series.

> 24 hourThis story has a very good pace and doesnt get sidetracked in too much detail or backstory, it just dives right in to the conflict. The interpersonal character dynamics were good. It kept my interest until the end, and was written in an easy-to-read style.
