Worked ok at first for my Garmin Instinct then it stopped being able to charge and was just coming up as low battery on the watch.

You have to have more than one. I hate getting to the office and finding my watch is low in juice and I still have to go workout:-) at that price you can afford to leave them in few strategic places.
