A quality silicone mat – weight: 44.41 oz / 1259 g / 2.78 lbs This is heavy duty & I liked that it had a smooth surface. General thoughts on under sink mats as a whole: = I know it would cost more & introduce other challenges, but I wish it were possible to order custom sizes. I’m not sure I want to try it, but I could see taping off part of the cabinet & applying Flex Seal. = If you’re using this to prevent water damage, consider getting some kind of water leak alarm. Otherwise, the mat will just fill up with water & still cause damage because you’re unaware that there’s a leak. = Some cans & storage containers can leak &/or the bottom of the container can rust. In those cases, the mat can prevent the wood from getting stained. = Consider whether you want a pattern or a smooth surface on the mat. A raised pattern or print adds some fashion. A smooth surface will likely make it easier to clean up stains or leaks. = A built in drain hole is nice, but make sure your cabinet is designed such that you can pull the mat out enough to use it. A heavier mat will make it easier (versus a thin, lighter weight mat). = If you have pipes coming up through the bottom of the cabinet floor consider another option to protect the wood of your cabinet. Cutting the mat to accommodate the water lines or drain pipe can be tricky & it compromises the mat’s ability to prevent water damage (if that’s your reason for buying it).

Its good but thin. Also came kinked pretty bad. Couldnt get the kinks out even after laying in the sun. But in the end, it will do the job. It should have the same ridges on inside profiles as the outside profile in case you have to cut it down. Cutting it down to fit reduces its fluid retention capacity.

Looks great, easy to install

This mat was definitely thicker and sturdier than the two others that I ordered for comparison. Even still, the edges dont stand straight up but that would only be a problem if a whole bunch of water gushed out at once and overwhelmed the edges. Otherwise I think they would hold it in. If you dont have pipes to cut around this mat would just slide right in. I had to cut around pipes. The material was easy to cut with a razor blade and held its shape around the pipes once cut. I wish it were a 1/2 wider. Then it would fit a 30 typical sink cabinet bottom perfectly. Highly recommend. Packaging was overkill (bag in a thick, glossy box - probably not recycleable). Others just came in bags which was fine.

...And Ive had that, just in case, circumstance happen before. I have an old house with no dishwasher (and no room for one unless I gut and remodel the entire kitchen. not happening any time soon). So that means dishes are done by hand (no big deal). After doing dishes one night, I, unknowingly had a loose pipe coupling that decided to let (a bit too much) soapy water pour down and out onto my feet. A mess. Had I had one of these Under Sink Mats then, it wouldve been a LOT less messy. Having to wipe/dry all the cleaning products and whatever else is underneath, plus leave everything out overnight so that the wood could dry, mop the mess on the floor and check everything thoroughly the next day to make sure water didnt overly soak anywhere and create water damage. With this mat, it wouldve just been to dry what got wet, drain the water using the drain hole in front, pat the mat dry, put everything back. done. Now I dont have to worry about any future mess. Its exactly as pictured, sturdy and lets face it, it just looks nicer underneath.

This mat functions perfectly for my application. I am using it as a workbench protector when I am handling liquids, oils, or chemicals in the shop. It protects against spills and is much easier to wipe off than my bench top. Im sure it would work well for its intended use as an Under Sink Protector and I may pick one up for that purpose as well. I recommend this product.
