> 24 hourI bought the Direwolf (Midnight) here on Amazon, and the Sabretooth (Bonesaw) from Walmart. Unfortunately, both are not created equally. First off--change the batteries right away, even if they appear to be working fine. I had some issues with the Sabretooth responding properly to touch (even when activating the right areas, he would often not respond), and a quick change of batteries fixed all the issues there. Even if the included batteries seem decent, just change them; the extra responsiveness makes a big difference. With fresh batteries, Id say responses are about 80-90% accurate, while Sabretooths packaged batteries gave him only around 30% accuracy. As for the Fingerlings themselves, the Direwolf has far more sounds and reactions than the Sabretooth. I was very disappointed to find the Sabretooth tends to repeats the same one sound over and over again (one specific sound in Untamed Mode, and another sound in Tamed). There is very little in the way of variety, and even different interactions, such as clapping or tapping his snout, will most likely bring about this same sound. It quickly becomes repetitive and sucks the fun and life out of the toy. On the flip side, they did a great job with Direwolf. There isnt a single sound that is repeated too much with him, and most interactions bring about unique (or at least mostly unique) reactions. Its painfully clear they put more time into Direwolf than Sabretooth; even as a big cat-lover, I must admit to preferring Direwolf thanks to the extra sounds. Hes simply more fun to play with. However, Direwolf does have a problem: The microphone. Sabretooth responds much better to sounds, whereas Direwolf has difficulty with sounds unless they are very loud. To give an example, Sabretooth regularly responds to sounds of a normal voice level, while with Direwolf, I have to speak loudly and up close for any sort of reaction. This also makes it hard for the two to interact. These are my first Fingerlings, so I dont know how much they are supposed to interact, but Sabretooth does an excellent job responding to Direwolf when he makes noise. Direwolf, on the other hand, hardly ever replies to Sabretooth; Sabretooth just isnt loud enough to activate Direwolfs subpar microphone. Speaking of loudness, Im impressed by the sound level of these toys. Theyre not obnoxiously loud like many toys; I would again compare them to the level of a normal indoor voice or so. A volume control would have been appreciated, but at this price point, its hard to complain. For parents buying these for their children, they most likely wont be loud enough to be aggravating during a car ride or at home over long periods of time. They would also probably be fine to bring into public in some areas, such as while shopping or perhaps at a family friendly restaurant. They may be too loud for, say, a waiting room or other quiet places, if that helps give you an idea. Overall, Im giving these two four stars. They both have issues of some sort, with Sabretooth generally being worse, but they are still entertaining toys. Even with Sabretooths lack of variety, I cant say I regret buying him for 15 bucks. Just know that Direwolf, even with the microphone issue (assuming this is common to all Direwolf Fingerlings and not just mine) is still a better value overall.

> 24 hourThis guy is a lot of fun ..sometimes he seems alive the way he responds to things. At first he was a bit slow to respond but now he seems all better. Maybe he was tired after traveling here :) He responds just as advertised now and howls like crazy. Grandson loved mine so much we bought him one too.
