> 3 dayIts only Spring so far, so have not been able to test the umbrella on intense days as yet. The material is thick and flexible, so seems like it will do a good job. I gave it less than a five star rating because it is a bit on the heavy side. I use an umbrella in strong sun and have done so for over ten years. Ive previously had a couple that were VERY light weight which is helpful when you are tucking them into a bag or holding it up for an hour or two. The lighter two came from travels in Hong Kong and were also much less expensive. I had the expectation that this umbrella, for the price, would have a great, lightweight frame. However, Im still basically pleased with it, and hope it will last for some time.

> 3 dayBought this for my wife who needs to stay out of the sun. She has worn Salumbra sun protection shirts in the past and they have worked well except when the heat really kicks off. This umbrella provides good UV protection as well as lowering the temperature under it so she is able to spend more time outdoors with me. She loves it and that makes me smile.

> 3 dayIts very short while folded up -- about 10 3/4 inches. But rather round at about 3 1/2 inches. Stubby Compact... but it will take up some room for those hoping to put it in their bag or purse. I keep mine in a water bottle sleeve on my LowePro photography belt and use it regularly in Big Cypress preserve in South Florida. If ever there was a test of the sun blocking ability of an umbrella, its in Big Cypress in the summer months. This one performs great and is tough enough to be pushed through thick growth from time to time.

> 3 dayI bought this for my trip to Guyana, a very hot and breezy tropical country. I take it with me everywhere i go, and I do feel that its protected me well from the sun and heat. I have been disappointed that it continues to flip if the wind catches it, but still it hasnt broken because of this. I have a friend who owns one of the same brand and in the same country and she says hers has never flipped. And I must say its better than regular umbrellas Ive used here. Overall very grateful to have it.

> 3 dayWith climate change, you will see more and more people using a similar product. It is essential for my walks to protect me from the sun & heat. I dont have to use as much messy, oily SPF lotion (which I loathe). Its a perfect size, small and very light. Great for travel as it uses little space in luggage. In my opinion, if it had a larger diameter, it would be cumbersome to use. This size is perfect. I hope to see more and more folks walking around with this type of solar umbrella. Its the only way I can get my walking exercise with some relative comfort in the super hot, super tropical area that the Chicago suburbs have become. What happened to the Midwest climate? Its getting much worse, so protect yourself with this or a similar product.

> 3 dayI have enjoyed this umbrella all summer. It keeps the harmful rays of the sun off of my face, which is why I bought it. It also is much cooler under this umbrella on hot days. I use it when I go for hour long walks in the mornings, and on docent led outings. Others have asked me where I have found it as they as interested. My negative comments would be its weight, and that it must be closed not only by pushing the button, but also collapsing the center bar/handle before I can pop it open again.

22-11-2024I just returned from a trip to which I was exposed to 87 degree to 105 degree temperatures and sun. The UV umbrella provided a much needed respite from the intense sun and heat. It is sturdy and indeed it is opaque and also has a dark lining to absorb reflected sunrays. It takes a little muscle to close. It is definitely heavier than a traditional rain umbrella, but I expected that from the specs. The sun blocking fabric is thicker than the nylon used in a typical rain umbrella. It definitely kept me cooler and made the heat bearable. Good purchase.

> 3 dayOverall I’m very happy with this umbrella. I walked around Tokyo and with this umbrella I was def cooler and sweated a lot less than I usually do. I’ve never used any other umbrealla, so I can’t say for sure how much different it is, but watching other people walk with umbrellas, I did notice the sun getting though theirs, but mine was completely blocked out. So for the parts I didn’t like. When the umbreall is rolled up is a super thick, and a little heavy. I didn’t mind carrying it around. It was just wrapping it that was kinda annoying. The Velcro strap would barely go around and I’m sure that it will break eventually. I personally don’t lik the silver color, but I understand it’s supposed to be the best option for reflecting the sun. Just wish it didn’t look so cheap and bland. It is a little hard to close, but really easy to open. It’s a decent size that you wont bump into people walking past them, but at the same time, for all that bulk you are carrying around I wish it did have more coverage. Or the ver least bend in more. It’s too small for the rain. I was still getting pretty wet, and missed my regular umbrealla, but I know this is supposed to be for th sun, but I’m just emphasizing on the lack of coverage. Oh, and if you get a small guest a wind. You’re done. This thing is flipping up like those old cartoons. I was kinda surprised how easily this would just flip up from a very small breeze. Oh, and the handle length is really short. I was switching arms constantly because it was kinda too short. Other than that I do think this is worth the price. I’m sure the bulk has to do with the protection factor, but the other things they could fix in a updated version. I will most likely stick with this brand and even upgrade if they made a newer version. Just the comfort of walking around all day without th sun beating on you is worth it IMO.

> 3 dayI used this in September in Jordan and Egypt where temperatures were, at times, well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It was definitely effective in shielding from the blistering sun but be prepared that it is a bit heavier than a rain umbrella of similar size. A bit if a funky chemical odor too but I was grateful to have this as it allowed me to really enjoy the historical sights without melting

> 3 dayI finally wised up. I was using a regular umbrella for sun shade because I didnt know they made UV protective umbrellas. Then I tried a different brand (cheaper) and I found I could see the SUN shine through it. So I tired this UV-Blocker Compact Umbrella, and its impossible to see the sun through the material! Wow! And it does finally allow me to be comfortable in the Southern California Summer heat. Thank you UV-Blocker for this wonderful product.
