This Christian brother teaches the toughest lesson for a Christian to learn, love those that persecute you. If you want to see what the mind of Christ looks like in someone, read this book.

Richard Wurmbrand always deserves the maximum. You can tell that the thoughts and ideas came to life in painful and humiliating situations. But nevertheless Wurmbrand exhudes joy and positivism. However, I have to warn readers that are not used to this writer that his ideas are not mainstream at all and at times they can even be shocking.

Like an unconventional devotional, this book is broken up into smaller parts that are easy to read a day at a time. Pastor Wurmbrands thoughts on scripture and its application to life are challenging to the way we live today. I found myself thinking on and quoting portions throughout my day. As good a read (but not as long and more down to earth) as My Utmost For His Highest.

From a man who endured the torture of communist prisons for many years comes forth a work inspired by the Holy Spirit. He reminds me of Paul who suffered imprisonment and persecution but always remained true to Christ (after the famous conversion). The author lived like this. Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, be patient in affliction, and be faithful in prayer.”

So encouraging and filled with grace. Wurmbrand is a little mystical but what else can you expect for someone who spent years in the dark in Communist prisons with no one but Jesus to accompany Him? This man has some wonderful wisdom and truth to offer, you just gotta dig in deep.

Very, very good book. As you read through you could tell that the content came from a very deep wisdom drawn from a very close relationship to God, cultivated through a life of much suffering. I filled this with highlighted passages from beginning to end.
