Viscera

> 3 dayOne of my favorite books, and probably my luckiest impulse buy. The characters are realistically flawed, and some take time to warm up to, but that just makes their slow characterization more satisfying. The world is wonderfully dark and has many interesting and often believable threads woven among the fantastic and hilariously macabre. The largely LGBT (mostly trans) main cast are well drawn; their struggles are presented with brutal realism, but theyre people rather than symbols or martyrs (with one exception, but given the persecution of LGBT people in real life, Id say thats realistic as well), and the book never tips into didactics. I hope Squailia will explore Visceras universe more, and look forward to reading their other works.

Greater than one weekThis is an interesting book to say the least. For me, it defies description and it is best you read it and judge for yourself. It is a vision hard to describe but possibly one of the most interesting I have read in a long time, a roller coaster to be sure. Yes, not a very helpful review but once you start to read, you will understand.

> 3 dayI loved this quick bizarro novella! It had multiple turns in it that took me on a new adventure in every section. Well worth the read, was not expecting the end.

Greater than one weekGabriel Squalias first book, Dead Boys, is one of the best books Ive read in the last few years. Ive told pretty much everyone I know and many I dont know about it. If you havent read it, you should! It is only connected to Viscera by the author. The reason I bring it up is the high expectations it gave me for Viscera. Luckily for me my high expectations were met and I really loved it! It has elements of fantasy, horror, adventure, and many eviscerations. Loved all the characters. The good, bad, and the inbetween. Wonderfully fleshed out and interesting. I loved the world building. There are a lot of different religions, sects, magic and more to learn about. Its so naturalistic and flows with the story wonderfully. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading fiction. Pretty sure this will be my favourite read of 2017 and Ill be busy recommending this to everyone!

> 3 dayI just adore this story. Its so imaginative and the magic system (if you can call it that) is so bizarre but it makes sense in the world theyre in. I understand its not for everybody. As the title indicates, it IS pretty visceral but I loved it. I cant wait to read his other book, Dead Boys, and I really hope he continues writing. The worlds he builds really take you on a trip. Just...be prepared for the ride.
