It worked great for both and held everything I needed -- keys, phone, cards, cash, inhaler, sunblock, tissues, lotion, a snack, etc. However, I would not recommend putting your whole wallet in there, as it takes up too much valuable space. The one thing that I wish this bag had is a ring to hook your keys onto. I have a carabiner keychain and was able to get it around the strap, but a ring would have been easier and the keys would have slid around less. But, overall, I am quite happy with my purchase and would buy it again if I wanted a different color.
