I was a bit skeptical to buy a handheld scanner. I looked for a flatbed canon but I discovered theyre too expensive now days and half they sell here on Amazon dont work well with windows 10. So, that brought me to this! It was a bit of a gamble seeing how this unit was a refurbished but it arrived without a scratch, smudge, or finger print. As long as you have a steady hand this works great! Also remember that the lower dpi, suitable for text not photos, I noticed you can move a little faster than a slug-pace required for the high dpi. Very happy!

I have absolutely no regrets about having bought this thing. I use it for personal purposes at home- it works very well on loose sheets of paper and can produce good quality scans even of book pages! I didnt format it, fiddle with it, or generally do anything but insert the SD card, and now its basically a staple item around my desk at home. If you need something simple and convenient for scanning individual pages of stuff, loose sheets of paper, etc. its very much something Id recommend! Just remember to dig around in the box for the SD card! Also the adapter works with my camera, so theres a plus, hah.

UPDATE: The scanner was working well for a while but now has white streaks in the scans... Ive tried cleaning the glass and running several calibrations, but that hasnt fixed this issue. Wow, I am so happy with this little magical scanner. I used to take photos of my large artwork with a DSLR camera and could never get a crisp image (it was also really difficult to get the lighting right too). This wand scanner is SO much better than my fancy camera. In my first test run, the image came out ultra crisp and perfect. It was a tiny bit dark, which is to be expected, so all I need to do is take the photos into photoshop to correct that. It will be easy to stitch the images of my large paintings together in Photoshop too. Another thing that Im really happy with is the fact that it came with so many accessories that were not offered on other listings. It came with a carrying case, USB cord, SD cards and some glass cleaners. The wand itself is also in excellent condition. Buy with confidence! Also, just as a tip: in case youre having trouble getting a straight image, you could always put something with a straight edge adjacent to where youre scanning to stabilize the scanner. I have no complaints whatsoever. Buy with confidence. -Alexis

The package was complete as described. It included an 8 GB memory card. The scanner is simple to set up and use. It is fast compared to an older all in one flatbed scanner. It do notice that the scanned images of documents are not as bright as the flatbed scans of the same documents. This is not a problem for the documents Im scanning but may be of a concern for photos (which I have not scanned). It is simple to use. The toughest part is getting the scanner placed properly at the top of the document, perpendicular to the scanned direction to be scanned so that the scan stays properly aligned at the bottom of the scan and doesnt wander off the edge. It is helpful to have the document on a somewhat non-slippery surface to keep it in place. Ive not used the included software in that I have other photo editing S/W that I use. All in all a very nice scanner for under $35.

I am a spy, I scan stuff in scary places for money. I can easily hide this in a 5 gallon bucket making it super stealthy. Other uses include using as a night stick, possible personal uses and definitely for spying. Okay, in all seriousness, it is a neat little device that is real handy for scanning docs and receipts. I lied about being an aviator in another review, figured spy was even cooler, oh well.

We needed a scanner for occasional use. We had an all in one printer/scanner that went down, and replaced it with a black and white laser printer. That left us without a scanner. For the 2 or 3 times a year that we need to scan something I didnt want to get a piece of equipment that would take up space. Enter VuPoint Magic Wand! I received this yesterday, and immediately powered it up, and tried it out. I didnt look at the instructions, and everything worked in pretty obvious ways. I turned it on, pressed the scan button, swiped it across the instruction sheet, pressed the scan button again. Then I plugged it into our Chromebook, and opened the file. Much sharper than expected, and the scan was perfect. First try, no instructions. So, I would say it is very easy to use, and if you just need a scanner for occasional use it is perfect for the job. If i was scanning a lot of stuff on a regular basis I would opt for a flatbed, or a sheetfed scanner.

Was intrigued by a scanner with OCR software. Dont bother with the software. You are sent a disk with version 9.0, the current version is 12.0 and you are not given a code to upgrade it. Version 12.0 doesnt even work on a lot of typed text. Scan quality of the scanner itself is fine. It is better than taking a picture with my phone.

This takes just a little trial and error to get the hang of, but its pretty simple to use and within minutes youll have it down. The quality of the scan is great for documents, even on really faded pencil.

It works. I suggest reading the directions however in order to operate with consistency. For instance. It shuts off after so many seconds or minutes of non use in order to save battery life. Also the procedures of scanning requires a smooth surface (common sense) and a slow and steady gentle hand motion of moving the scanner across the photo or object. No quick or jerky motions as this will confuse the scanner and an error message will arise and you will have to try again lol!!! So the point is that mine works just fine. I am backing up old photos so i use the highest level of resolution.

This is a great product when you need to have a scan done and no other scanning devices are near. It works a described and is able to product some great scans. One tip is that you must get to know all of its functions and practice to achieve the desired results. The additions of the included SD card is a plus as is the carrying bag. I keep mine with me in my bag of tools as I call them and usually keep it in my vehicle. It comes in very handy at the library to capture that page of information you will need later and I have often been asked to scan other friends research as well. Finally told them where to get their own. A great and handy, useful tool...
