> 3 dayMy son was happy with this gift. I didnt know what it was. After a long explanation by him I know now that is a computer in its own merit. Hes using it by now in his job, and has been qualified (by him) as the better gift of the later years.

> 3 daySeems to be working exactly as expected. Unfortunately it doesnt work like a regular flash drive and plug and play with my Samsung Galaxy S9. Guess it requires too much power. Runs a little hot when in use. Transfer rates are nice and speedy. No lag when watching movies of it.

> 3 dayWorks great right out of the box. My only complaint with the product is with the USB-C cable + USB A adapter. It has a groove on both the adapter and cable allowing it to plug in only one way which is a bit annoying. Other than that this is a superb product

> 3 dayIts a 1 TB SSD. It looks like the picture in the listing. It was the correct color. It supports USB3. The only thing I dont know is how long it will be in service.

> 3 dayNeeded to replace a 1TB that I had, had for years. This thing hooks up to USB C / Thunderbolt so it goes plenty fast. I habe not had any problems with failures either. I do not use it for its portable feature though. I put my Documents and pictures on it.

> 3 dayI have backed up two desktops and my laptop on this unit. It was a snap to set up, and move between the computers. Its a hard drive that allows me to share my thousands of photos simply.

> 3 dayGot this as an addon drive for my MacBook Pro, I used some Velcro to stick it to the top of the lid and its working great. Im impressed with the speed, real world numbers Im seeing are around 500MB / sec read and 475 MB/s writes, which means moving 10 GB in a little over 20 seconds! As an old timer in computers Im blown away at that, even though I know the newer drives are even much faster. For ebooks, music and movie storage its plenty fast and the same speed as the internal SSD in my last MacBook. My only big complaint is the cable that comes with it, its very stiff and when I attached it to the drive I think it damaged one of my USB ports, even though I pre-bent it into shape. Ive ordered a thinner, more flexible cable with right angle connectors I hope will do a better job.

> 3 dayTransferred 200+ gigs of photos in a matter of minutes, haven’t had any issues with it besides it didn’t come with the activation/serial code for the software registration (not a big deal)

> 3 dayWhen I contacted WD, I gave them my serial number and they couldnt identify my drive. They said they would get back to me but I havent heard from them. Could this be a faux product?

> 3 dayI was THIS close to returning the drive. When I put it through its paces today, the write speed was terrible (started around 45 Mbps and dropped to 5) and it would randomly disconnect after about a couple of minutes of writing, all the while getting rather toasty. All right, lets not be hasty. Maybe its a bad cable or USB-A adapter, because theres no shortage of absolutely garbage quality or even electrically dangerous ones on Amazon. I pulled off the adapter and hooked it up to the USB-C port on my lappy that I normally use for charging. About a minute later Id transferred 50 gigabytes of stuff, easily beating the pants of all my external drives. The drive was getting pretty warm in the process, unsurprisingly. So, lesson learned. Use the USB-C cable directly (making darn sure it supports USB 3.1 data transfer) for maximum performance, and maybe pick apart the adapter for educational and scientific purposes. Or just to rip it apart for fun. ... And upon closer inspection, the adapter is keyed, as is the cable. Id plugged the darn thing in backwards (defeating one of the best parts of USB-C), thus ensuring that the plug wasnt completely seated. Once I plugged it in the correct way, the transfer speed was 100 MBps, which is totally acceptable. Hey WD, maybe next time make an adapter that can work both ways? I can live with a fat adapter.
