We aired it out for a few days in the garage before we packed it up to use and the odor was much less strong but it still made me wonder if these plastics are truly a good quality for use with babies. the plastic is not very clear, almost like the transparency of old fashioned glass, which was fine for me but probably annoyed the children more. But overall its a good tool and it fits nicely over a Citi Mini GT Double
