> 3 dayafter I received this drive, I immediately looked up warranty info and this indeed has 3 + some years left on warranty (contrary to some others who reported they got a OEM drive). It secured well above average score on benchmarks and it is reasonably quiet. there was some resistance when I tried to insert it into the drive bay on my NUC but it went in nicely and got seated. I am happy with its performance. update: it has been making a constant fan like noise when the pc is on. Only occasionally I dont hear the noise. This is beginning to bother me as my NUC is very quiet otherwise (part of the reason why I bought a NUC). I dont know if there is any setting to silence this noise.

> 3 dayWe know nothing about computers and this was pretty easy to use. All we had to do was get the info by clicking the yellow get product support tab in the your orders page. It took us to amazon chat and they quickly messaged us the link. The link was easy!! Just download and follow instructions. Saved an $800 computer for just $48 !! Really appreciate!! Highly recommend!!

> 3 dayI bought the 2.5 2TB bare drive to replace the 500GB drive in my Dell Inspiron 15. Despite some negative reviews I ordered this anyway. It came a day earlier than expected and was packed in a sealed antistatic bag in a box wrapped with bubble protector and shipped in a padded packing envelope. Good care in shipping. A sticker on the outside of the antistatic bag read 2 yr warranty by Hard Drive Geeks. So if the drive does fail I wont be calling WD but contacting the Geeks. As far as hard drives go, they are all a gamble. Over the years Ive had hard drives fail, but WD ones seemed to be the best, so I prefer them to Seagate. ….I put the bare drive into my USB drive dock and connected the USB to my laptop. I then used the free Hard Drive clone utility Macrium Reflect I downloaded from CNET Downloads. This is on a Windows 10 x64 system. All I did was choose the current hard drive, click Clone and then click the new HD in my dock as the destination. The software ran flawlessly and copied my whole drive in about 5 1/2 hrs. Then I shut the laptop down, unplugged it, took out the old drive and put the new 2TB drive in. Works perfectly, and I will then use the Windows resizing utility on the remaining space for storage. If you dont know how to remove or install a hard drive just put in your computer model and type hard drive installation on youtube, there are a ton of videos. Overall I am very happy with this product. If the drive starts acting up I will update the review. In the meantime I have put the original hard drive in a protective case for storage in case I ever need to put it back in for an emergency.

> 3 dayI bought this to replace the 1TB drive inside of my laptop because I needed more space. Ive been using it as a storage drive and I dont really notice a performance switching from the old 7200RPM Hitachi drive. Ill update this review if the SMR technology starts showing its ugly side Side notes: If you want a CMR drive, AFIK the Samsung M9T/Seagate ST2000LM003-ST2000LM005 drives are the only CMR 9.5 2TB drives. Despite buying mine from Amazon Warehouse, I was somehow able to register with WD for warranty.

> 3 dayI ordered two of these drives, one of which was DOA. I contacted WD, and they said that it was an OEM drive and was not covered under warranty. I have since destroyed the drive, and will avoid the seller.

> 3 dayI used this to replace a toshi hybrid 500g drive. It cloned to perfection and I rebooted. The reboot on a win10 lp took about 20 min. I had done this procedure before and it took less time before. After quite a while the hdd light stopped flashing nad I decided to check the drive with win 10 tools. Scandisk found errors so I let it go through the correction phase and after many hours it ended and rebooted to the normal desktop. I checked and win reported no more drive errors. I checked it against another drive and performance numbers were ok. My 4 star rating comes from the win10 bootup time. It is horrendous. 15 min is too long to wait for the hdd light to finally clear on my laptop. BUT after tlight clears it is the most silent hard drive I have ever had. No accesses for hours of web surfing. Truly a twilight zone conundrum. I give the 4 stars because of the slow boot but once it finishes this drive is a freak of silence and performance.
