Saw that this drive was highly recommended so I figured what could go wrong. Well, one month later, the drive is completely unreadable and now im forced to RMA since the return period is over. Dont waste your money.

There is a firmware bug that caused my Linux installation to crash every hour or so (both Fedora 33 and Manjaro). After updating to the latest firmware it works just fine, but you cannot update it from Linux. I had to install Windows (luckily you can get ISOs from Microsoft for free now) just to use the WD updater tool. The drive works great now, but it seems crazy that I need to install Windows to fix a Linux exclusive bug. If youre a broke linux user than the process may be worth you time, but just keep it in mind. Western Digital, at least release a binary of your firmware even if you dont want to write software for Linux.

It works for LG gram 15Z980 upgrade. just plug in the open 2nd M2 SSD slot and initialize it. Now I have 1.5T of storage space in total.

The drive uses slc cache although it is dram less but performance wise it is equivalent to dram ssd due to new technology addedd by WD.

Its pretty good I put this in a $160 laptop in it essentially gave me a 20x speed increase over the stock drive that the Lenovo came with which was a generic unbranded drive. The unbranded Lenovo small capacity 128 gig m2 SSD was just above 20 megabits per second throughput and this is just over 1500 for the same data stream... See the screen cap

These came shipped together in soft Amazon paper bags. Came out in this state.
