Whiteside Router Bits 3001 Template Bit with Ball Bearing

Quality American made bit. I own several Whiteside bits. Yes, they are more expensive than the cheap Chinese made bits that are everywhere. The difference is the accuracy and longevity.

Very nice bit. Cuts clean. Whiteside bits are first class.

I needed a router bit that would match up with my template for a shallow beginning before I could use the bowl routing bits. The distance on the bowl bits was too great between the baring and the top of the cutter head, this bit was perfect for routing that gap.

Whiteside bits are generally the sharpest and cut best IMHO, but this bit had a annoying flaw. The bearing came loose and rode up, ruining the cut. I retightened the set screw only to have the same thing happen the next time around. Disappointed in this design.

Using this bit to make dados in cabinets using a shop built jig. The cuts are clean and smooth.

This bit cuts very cleanly. Only needed light edge sanding after making the cut.

For the money, this is by far one of the best values for this type of router bit. Highly recommend it if you need this type of bit. Very sharp and has stayed sharp. You can tell when you look at it in person, it is a high quality bit, not like many of the cheaply manufactured bits you can get online.

Check the screw that hold the retainer of the bearing every time before using it ,But still on the 2nd time I lost it in the middle of the project and messed up the red oak ,Not expecting an US made bit will be like those Chinese cheap ones
