> 3 dayThis is a piece of foam. There is absolutely no carbon inside it. Wash it, the water will run clear immediately. With a carbon infused sponge, water should have a light black tint. The original pad does exactly that.

> 3 dayThey are a little more porous and hard than the fluval branded ones, but should do the trick. And much cheaper.

> 3 dayThese ARE NOT carbon impregnated filter pads! You can see right through them and they look the same as the bio filter pads but painted black. What a scam!

> 3 dayCarbon is seldom needed. You are almost better without it. This a a great option for a FX 6 filter. Place it last in the bin, just to protect the impeller from possible debris from your media. Replace it one a month. Carbon depletes quickly in this scenario, the foam is just impregnated with carbon. The amount of carbon you actually need for a large tank 75 gallons + is quite a lot. This amount of carbon is just enough to possibly remove medicine after treatments and the more obvious benefit is better smelling tank. It is a great option to just protect your impeller. As for actually making your water clear the bigger the tank the more carbon and the dirtier the tank the more carbon. It works great for my purpose. Nothing works better than regular water changes, and keeping water parameters in check. I have a 150 gallon tank with a single FX6 and 30+ African Cichlids and still need to get more. For clearer water use filter floss and water changes not this.
