Zoo Med Naturalistic Terrarium Hood, 12-Inch

Chamelisa
Greater than one weekI dont like any CFL fixtures for reptiles because they are so problematic. I work in rescue and most issues I find with the chameleons that I rescue stem from poor lighting equipment. I purchased this to test a CFL light with a Solarmeter and only use it for my lab where I may keep an animal there for a short period (as in minutes or hours) while its being medicated or treated in some way. Not ideal for long term for chameleons. I gave it 3 stars for aesthetics and design. It might be better suited for frogs or geckos.

Me too
> 3 dayThis works great on top of our turtle tank, so good I bought 3 of them. They are slimier and better looking in my opinion than the Exo Terra. Also I like these better than Exo as the cord is in the back along with the switch. The Exo the cord and switch are on the side. They also work great and have had no problems. I have one with a red light, one with a daylight bulb and one with a compact UVB bulb. Highly Recommended!

> 3 dayReviewers recommended it over the exoterra, wish I wouldnt have listened as it slides around on top. the recommended bulb is expensive and quite dim.

25-11-2024Good for reptiles that need low levels of UVB like crested geckos. Fits perfectly on my 12x12x18 ExoTerra and 12x12x18 Zilla enclosures. But, I wouldnt buy this for desert species that need higher UVB levels to prevent metabolic bone disease(bearded dragons, leopard gecko) A fluorescent tube light would work better for them.
