I can get up to 4 grocery bags on them with room for more. I also use them because I am paraplegic and sitting in my wheelchair my legs splay apart causing pain in my hips so I got a belt with key rings on the ends to clip it all around my legs keeping them together, works great! These carabiners make it easy to carry multiple plastic bags of groceries. Easy on the hands.

Ive never used these for carrying groceries--but we do use them for clipping our snorkel/spear fishing gear to our swim-buoy when we do open water swimming and its a game changer.
