Was looking for a 4k monitor with 144hz refresh rate. Works pretty good, though brightness could have been better.

1 week UPDATE: Ive experienced the flicker. When it starts, there are vertical lines, and a 30hz backlight flicker. Its awful. Power cycling didnt fix it, but it did eventually stop over time. I kept changing inputs and power cycling trying to fix it. I have no idea why, but this must be what reddit people are complaining about. A day later. And the monitor seems normal again. Im not keeping this. Build quality is terrible, software or hardware issues apparent. I ran 144hz on both my monitors. Never needed with 240hz on this one.

I am so glad I found this monitor. I had been searching for something that could really push my new 5800x/6800xt build to its actual potential. I had the fantastic LG gl83a-b which was absolutely perfect for my prior setup with the 3700x/5700xt and 2080 ftw 3 cards (I am a builder so I was once very flush with cards) and once I decided to move up to current gen I started out with the 3700x and Ventus 3070 3x oc and it was a shock at just how well that card handled 1440p @144hz. I ended up getting the cpu upgrade and then the Bitcoin apocalypse resurgence truly blasted off. The last time I was able to check out with a new card was the day before that coin hit 57k...I managed to get both the tuf 3070 and my current gigabyte gaming oc 6800xt back to back (I sold the 3070 to a client at cost plus $30...I am not a scalper).

Coming from the Alienware AW3418DW (An Ultrawide IPS)(VRR Enabled on both monitors) I was a little nervous with this purchase. That said I really really love this monitor. The colors look nicer than my previous monitor, and the speed is also better. I was mainly looking for the speed upgrade with this purchase and this monitor did deliver. Even when running games at 70-90 fps (below the highest refresh rate of both monitors) I could feel a difference in the response times. My new Acer being the dominant monitor of the two. I also felt that the colors looked better. The Acer monitor was more vibrant and looked better in darker scenes in games than my previous monitor did. I used the VRR (Freesync/gsync*) setting with my RTX 2080 and had no issues, even though at the times of this review this monitor is not gsync compatible. I have read on some forums, but to be honest have not done research myself, that this panel is the same as their similar predator model. The predator model is gsync compatible. This leads me to believe that this monitor could receive gsync certification in the future. The VRR performed amazingly in any game I through at it. EFT where I would get 60-140 fps depending on the local. COD where I was pushing 200 fps. Then CSGO where I could use all 270 HZ. All these games felt better than before. And to my delight, these games even looked better (color). Now since I have talked about looks I should mention that I have not looked at the HDR performance on this monitor because I believe even VESA HDR 600 isnt worth paying extra for. I have to say that I am happy with this monitor but I cant leave out the issue I have had. The issue is pictured above. I have not seen this issue in games and have only experienced these issues twice since I purchased the monitor. I am hoping this does stop but if not I will end up returning this monitor. I really dont want to do that because otherwise I really love this monitor. I will update this review below if needed.

Picture is so sharp and high quality and you dont have to make any compromises to play at 270 HZ. The monitor is incredibly smooth and the brightness is suffiicient. No dead pixels or flickers whatsoever.

These are sleeper monitors. Great for gaming and other tasks. AMD freesync if that matters. I dont care about it though. I am running triple monitors on a 2080ti and everything is flawless. Ignore my cable management... Im not done yet...

I normally dont write reviews, but for this item it would be a disservice not to share my experience. I am no Linus from Linus Tech Tips, but I will try to give you the perspective as a competitive gamer.

I just received my monitor, but I’m absolutely blown away already how nice the picture quality on this monitor is. I managed to get the monitor 50% off brand new, I really feel like I got a good deal for them. The only thing negative I’d say about the monitor is that the speakers are some what pretty quiet. I’ll probably end up buying external speakers for the monitor.

In competitive gaming, every frame matters. Introducing Acer"s XV282K gaming monitor - the UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution monitor that can keep up with your game play. Through AMD Radeon technology, the game’s frame rate is determined by your graphics card, not the fixed refresh rate of the monitor, giving you a serious competitive edge. Plus, users can enjoy comfortable viewing experience while gaming via flicker-less, low dimming and ComfyView display. The design saves space on your desk and lets you place multiple monitors side by side to build a seamless big-screen display. (UM.PX2AA.V01).
