The best performance to price ratio on the market, a must have!

I bought this to replace a 7 year old Linux gaming computer (dual-boot, multi-drive) with a corroded power supply, expecting to install a couple extra hard drives, while still playing a few games on the original Windows drive it shipped with. After a little research, it looked like I wouldnt have a lot of trouble installing drivers for the hardware that comes with this model, and the price was reasonably low compared with System76, so I went ahead and ordered it.

I upgraded from having an Asus flip book from 2014 to this. I am very pleased with it so far. I play the Sims 4 with all expansion/game/stuff packs including mods and cc. No lag. Game starts up instantly, move worlds instantly. The screen quality is pretty nice.

After a month of waiting my laptop finally came! I was so excited! While trying to get everything booted up the screen would continually go to black. Thinking this was a fluke I continued, but I was wrong. After finally getting all of my preferences set the computer would continually go to sleep. It’s easy enough to wake up. You press a button and then enter your pin. But it just keeps going to sleep on me. Sometimes after 10 minutes of use. Sometimes after five seconds of use. It’s basically unusable in the state. I had to call customer service several times to get a hold of someone who could speak clearly enough to help me and even they suggested to just get a refund directly from Amazon.

When it works its a pretty good gaming laptop, has a good battery life, runs games well and has beautiful picture. Problem is after a year its practically useless. I bought it in August of last year and now 1 week after the 1 year warranty expired the screen goes black and displays nothing, so if you do buy it at least be sure to get the extended warranty because it will stop functioning. Honestly itd be a much better option to sacrifice some of the performance for durability because 1 year of use is pretty pathetic.

WIFI constantly drops in and out, all other devices including my old lap top have no problems. it is definitively related to this computer. i have tried all sorts of things to fix with no success.

I bought this laptop to be able to work remotely and also play call of duty world war II. I tried to make the best of the preloaded operating system with the stuff that was on there, but I did not like it. I downloaded the Windows 10 creation tool and put that on a USB. I booted to USB and did a clean install of Windows 10 home. Afterward I started utilizing this little beast to play call of duty. Let me tell you, I have never in my life seen a laptop get this hot! When I say hot I mean it will burn your freaking fingers! The panel center of the screen above the keyboard was so hot I could have literally fried a piece of meat on it! Im not kidding! Luckily for me I had a five fan laptop cooling device that I plug into my USB and was able to put it underneath my laptop which yielded impressive cooling to this machine. Let me tell you it is still hot! But not so hot that it would burn you now. I am very worried that the heat that is generated from this machine will make it die too soon. Otherwise I am averaging a hundred and sixty three frames per second on call of duty world war II, I do not have the settings to max on anything because I want performance more than I want beautiful pictures. I hope this review helps some of you and especially I hope this helps the people at Acer so that they can design some type of better cooling system for future gaming rigs at this price point.

this was everything needed for both gaming and for school/work, performance is great stands for everything it represents had for about a month so far and still next best thing to a great laptop best purchase highly unlikely that you would be disappointed

I was impressed before I even turn it on for the first time. Boots up fast. The WiFi is super awesome. I was downloading games from steam at amazing speeds. Screen is crystal clear. The graphics card works great. Max settings for GTA V and there was breathing room on the video memory. I will be happy with this for a good long time.

Needs to be plugged in to run any game with decent quality. Once it is plugged in, the laptop usually will overheat and shut down and restart. This problem even persists WITH the use of external fans. Unfortunately it is impossible to play anything without your device being plugged in or it will drain the battery completely in less than an hour. I was really excited for this laptop and apparently even my 1 year warranty cannot help me out with this issue. The sad truth is to enjoy anything fun you need to waste your money on problems that shouldnt exist in my opinion. It was a good laptop for a little under a year though. What prompted my review is it overheating on me 3 times within a span of 40 minutes. Im very disappointed in myself for not researching further before choosing this device.
