This thing rocks, no dead pixels and no crazy backlight bleed. Couldnt be happier. Definitely worth the money.

I got the Acer X35 and took my chance knowing the flickering and fan issues others were complaining about, I was also aware that there is a firmware update earlier this year that resolved both those issues, but I was a bit skeptical and ready to be disappointed, my mind was set to get the Asus PG35VQ, but the Acer one is $600 cheaper than the cheapest PG35VQ I could find, so I pulled the plug and crossed my finger on the Acer.

Ive had the monitor about 3 weeks now, after I got tired of waiting for the PG35VQ. I was aware of the fan discussions and wanted to take my chances. Id say about 20% of the time the monitor is on, it will do the rhythmic fan on/off. If its very quiet in the room, I do notice it, but its not enough of a problem for me to complain about it. Those saying it spins up to 100% and then off arent entirely accurate. Id say it spins up to about 15-20% power. The reason I know this, is because every once in a while when I turn the monitor on, it spins up to 100% (maybe to clear dust or something). And THAT is loud, like jet engine for 5 seconds or so. If your fan is doing that speed regularly, it is broken and return it. But the fan on/off as it is, I dont think its a big deal.

This monitor is the best i have ever owned. EXCELLENT color, low response time and great picture quality. Also 10 bit color is available in only 144hz mode but usually with my 2070 super im getting around 80-100 depending on the game (150 on bf5). Only con is the excuse of HDR because as we all know the HDR400 mode doesnt require local dimming so the performance is laughable in most games, but overall i would rate this monitor a 4.9/5 only reason it isnt a 5/5 is because with the stand i am now required to get another desk. Also it is worth noting that out of the box it is tuned for srgb and i would highly recommend changing it to dcip3 in the osd much better color reproduction.

I recognize people are having issues, but I am not. Completely love the picture and gaming on this monitor. There is some haloing with FALD on, but not enough to bug me. No dead pixels, I run it at 144 (mostly RPG, sport and strategy - I dont need 200mhz FPS) and keep the OD on normal. I dont see flickering or scanlines and yes, I play Witcher 3 on it. The snowy picture does flicker, but thats not a realistic scenario for me. Fan is not audible 99% of the time (matter of fact, only when off sometimes). My most recent monitors have been an Acer X34, Acer XB321HK, and a Samsung CHG70. I think this monitor is better than each of those. The CHG70 has more saturated colors (which I love) but the FALD cant be beat and is amazing with HDR content, so worth the trade off.
