Greater than one weekGreat garden tool. I use it, amount other things, to dig out agave “pups” that spring up in potted agaves crowding the main plant and detracting from the appearance. Cutting edge allows removal of pups where regular garden trowel is worthless.

> 3 dayI saw a less expensive garden knife, but the blade was not as sturdy as Leonard knife. Definitely a quality product.

> 3 dayThis hand held garden shovel I highly recommend! Be careful - it’s very sharp. It’ll cut through roots and dig your little holes with ease. Love it! Mine’s 7 years old and still going strong.

> 3 dayThis is a great product. It has a nice weight, nice feel to it. Its sharp and cuts through roots and dense soil very well. Im not sure how I have gotten along without it before! I have used it to remove big clumps of crab grass and to dig out burdock and dandelion. I used it to cut swaths of creeping Charlie out of the garden, too, and it made the task go much more quickly. Its also great for getting out weeds between stones in pathways. I also used it to cut through the cardboard sheets Im using as weed block so I can plant through it, and it made short work of that cardboard cutting! It has fast become my favorite tool! I wear leather gloves when I use it because it really is sharp. I love that one side is serrated and one is not. I do suggest you get the leather sheath with it. I am using a sheath not made for it, and it doesnt fit quite right. Overall, this is a versatile, handy tool, well worth the price.

> 3 dayIve read reviews by other professional gardeners and landscapers and can really only reiterate. I used an A.M. Leonard soil knife (the classic model) working for a landscaping company for 3 years (and it probably wasnt new when I got it). When I left landscaping, I could no longer enter my backyard without wishing I still had it. Such a sturdy digger/pryer. I do recall feeling it start to bend one time, but I dont remember which completely stupid misuse I was trying at the time. Perhaps stuffing a rock under it as a fulcrum and stepping or jumping on it to pull up a wood form around concrete--that kind of stupid. I also saw plenty of dirty A.M. soil knives, knives at the bottom of toolboxes exposed to the elements, but no terribly rusty ones. My old classic model one wasnt great for cutting, I always carried a razor knife and pruners for cutting. However the deluxe model I bought for home use cuts much better. Maybe due to it being new, but the serrated side seems way better than I remember on the old classic. I even use it like a machete (the serrated side surprisingly) to chop up non-woody plants. I dont care for the twine cutting notch in this deluxe model (Ive cut myself on it several times and twine zero times--besides the serrated side can cut twine). I could grind that dull, if I really wanted it gone. The inch markings are nice too have.

> 3 dayAn owner of a landscaping company said she had test many soil knives and this is the only model she will purchase for her company. I used it an employee (~2012) and the knife was at least 5 years old with a lot of hours on it. The teeth had dulled a little bit but were still great and the quality of the knife was great and sturdy. No longer an employee, I bought my own in 2020 and wowee, the teeth are even more fantastic and family members that use it rave about the quality as well.

> 3 dayLove this knife - much easier to use when digging than a hand trowel. I use this to dig holes for small transplants and to dig weeds from slitty places like between patio stones or between two plants. The serrated side works great to cut off the bottom 1/4 of a root-bound pot before planting, and to cut in-ground roots when digging planting holes. I carry my hand tools in a small garden trug and I now reach for this first when planting, instead of the hand trowel. Orange handle makes it easy to spot when you leave it on the ground somewhere. My uncle loved it too, and ordered one after trying mine. Highly recommend this tool. Its also available with a leather sheath, if you wear a belt while gardening.
