03-04-2025This is a good processor for mixed workloads. Im doing productivity during the day with light gaming in off hours and I havent been able to stress it too much yet. Full disclosure, Ive done a very light OC on it to bring it up a little from base, but especially for a gaming build where youre not expecting to turn around and also use it in very CPU intensive work, youll be fine with the stock speed and cooler.

> 3 dayNot only does the heatsink included works, it works almost good enough if all you plain on playing are High GPU usage games only. Best part I live in a place where a normal day is 90F and a cool day is 84F and it gets not that much hotter in the room its in than if it were off (of course that depends on GPU more but the point is the CPU does not get hot as is, unless you push the CPU only).

Greater than one weekI picked up an X470 motherboard along with this chip. The motherboard manufacturers (AsRock) support page only had Windows 10 drivers, but I was able to get the necessary X470 drivers from AMDs site. I slip-streamed the drivers into a bootable Windows 7 installation USB drive and everything went without a hitch. After the install, there was one (!) on the device manager, which was for the Intel Network Adapter (i211), but I was able to get the legacy drivers from Intel to solve that.
