Like a lot of homes our living room had no overhead lighting and use of floor or table lamps just didn’t cut it. After a fair amount of research decided to purchase these lights. Pros. inexpensive, well made metal body and clips not plastic like some, ability to change color, straight forward install, look nice, low energy consumption, lights themselves are thin, complete unit (no need to buy can, trim and bulb separately), LEDs don’t get hot can contact insulation. Cons. Template provided is worthless, as others mentioned it makes too big a hole. I made a 6” hole which gave me a nice clean fit. If a light goes out you can’t just replace a bulb. Will these last? only time will tell. As for ease of installation, that will depend on your knowledge and expertise. My install involved pulling power from an existing line, dropping a new switch wire and box in the wall for a dimmer and then putting the lights in. Fortunately I had attic access and at 68 can still manage to crawl around up there (just barely). These weren’t any easier or harder to install than other retrofit cans. I did bench test all lights and boxes to make sure each functioned properly, didn’t want to have the hassle of one not working after installation. I also went online and used a spacing calculator for recessed lighting, put in length and width of the room it shows how many lights and were to put them for proper coverage. I’m not an electrician but have done electrical work since my teens. I like these and would probably buy again if needed. Just my thoughts. Best of luck with your install. ALOHA

I recently purchased my first home and all of the fixtures were pretty outdated. (lots of glass orbs and gold colored metal) Ive used these to replace all of the small hallway, entryway, closet, etc fixtures. They look great and are an incredible value. (At least half the price if you were looking at similar lights from home improvement stores) Good amount of light for smaller spaces. (or large spaces if you use multiple in conjunction) Incredibly easy to install, turn off switch/breaker, then either cut holes if no fixture present, or remove previous gangbox and expand hole to fit using included template and drywall knife/holesaw. Add some 3/8 (1/2 KO) push in connectors to stop your wires from contacting bare metal of the included junction box. Wire into the awesome push connectors. (No wire nuts needed) Then you just throw the junction box into your ceiling and connect the light/screw on the locking nut and use the retention springs to snap it into place. (watch your fingers) Seriously, these look incredible and are like $9/unit or less. You can daisy chain up to three junction boxes per junction box, adjust the color temperature easily, and theyre dimmable! As long as I get a good life out of these, I will be extremely happy with them.

These lights are easy to install, once you have a hole in the ceiling. I have a 3/4 inch thick drywall ceiling, and I laid out where I wanted the lights to go, then drilled a small hole and poked a piece of wire thru so I could find the hole in the attic and move the insulation before drilling out the 6 3/8 hole with the hole saw I have. Several lights would hit a joist on part of the hole, but it doesn’t matter because the light is thinner than the drywall and so that made it easy to put in the lights. The max thickness of the light is about 5/8 at the 2 springs and the rest is under 1/2. So these could fit directly under a joist in 1/2 inch drywall, just twist light disk that the springs don’t line up with the joist or anything else in the hole.

These lights are well priced, bright and really easy to install. You only need electricity in the area where you are installing them. If there is an existing fixture, you tap the power there and if it’s switched, all your lights can be daisy-chained and switched. The ability to change the color temperature in the small junction box depending on use is another great advantage. Everything you need comes with the lights.except for cable connectors for the junction box. The plastic push in ones work great. Quality looks to be good but longevity will only be known with use. But should a light fail, you can just disconnect the existing light and replace. There lights are excellent for remodeling compared to the difficulty of traditional recessed cans. I am very happy with my purchase.

I ordered six black ringed lights. I received five black ringed lights and one white ring light. So I have one light doesnt match the others. Other than that installation was easy and the product works well.

EASY INSTALLATION

What is the hole cutout size? Can these be used in narrow ceiling areas?

We recommend that you cut a 6.2’’-6.5’’ hole in the ceiling (Advised the cutout size: 6.25"). The light only requires as small as 2 inches ceiling spaces and fits various ceilings, no cans required. Great for new construction or remodel applications.

What’s the difference between these colors?

2700K-Soft White/3000K-Warm White/3500K-Neutral White/4000K-Cool White/5000K-Daylight. The color switch is on the junction box. You can choose one of the five color temperaments to decorate your house or company according to your preference.

Can the light be placed in wet or damp areas such as bathrooms?

The light is damp-rated, which means it will be suitable for damp locations like bathrooms. But that does not mean waterproof. So it is best to install it above the shower to avoid direct contact with water.
